Oh podcasts…I went from barely understanding what a podcast was to listening all day long practically over night. I credit podcasts with keeping me sane while working on tedious projects or commuting in traffic. As per usual I’m late to the party and it feels like I’ve discovered an entire world I never knew existed.
I’ve listened to podcasts on a range of subjects over the past six months and I want to share a few of my favorites. If you have any podcasts you can’t stop listening to PLEASE send them my way. I go through audiobooks and podcasts like crazy, I just can’t seem to get enough!
My Favorite Podcasts:
Great for the granola girl or anyone interested in healthy living. From zodiac to alternative medicine, to natural beauty and healthy eating this podcast covers a range of topics. While I don’t consider myself a big zodiac person, I thoroughly enjoy the upbeat attitudes and sunny dispositions for the show’s hosts (who happen to be real life BFFS). I can listen to the girls talk about topics I already love like healthy eating and working out and I still stick around for the topics I’m not sure I’m that into because I always learn something new.
I don’t love to place a huge emphasis on politics in this space, mainly because I don’t think I have anything uniquely valuable to add to the conversation, but I have loved the With Her podcast. Obviously not everyone is going to love hearing about Hilary Clinton and her platform but if you are interested…it’s a fairly light hearted and informative place to learn.
Super niche and definitely not for anyone and everyone but a definite MUST LISTEN for anyone studying for the LSAT or thinking about Law school. I have listened to this podcast more than any other (and perhaps more than all the others combined). The hosts, Ben and Nathan, offer the most valuable LSAT tips and advice. I’m consistently impressed with the way they keep the podcast interesting despite discussing a standardized test for over an hour each episode. I swear the podcast is like having a personal lsat tutor. I’ve listened to every episode!
Lauryn of The Skinny Confidential talks everything from botox and boob jobs to interval training, to wedding planning to Tinder dating with her fiancé, Michael, as her cohost. Though Lauryn’s popular lifestyle blog has been around for years, I somehow missed the memo and stumbled across her podcast before ever reading The Skinny Confidential. While I can’t say I hands down agree with every single opinion Lauryn & her fiancé share…I do find the podcast super entertaining. Great to listen to while cleaning your apartment, stuck in traffic or pushing through that last hour at work, it adds a touch of sass and humor to the day.
Okay I get that I am potentially a freak for listening to this because clearly the segment is intended for brides (striving to be the opposite of Bridezillas). BUT Aleisha McCormack is so personable I argue the podcast is great for anyone who is weirdly obsessed with the wedding industry. I like to say I have a vested interest in weddings because I used to work in bridal fashion but in reality I just love the host. She’s hilarious and her accent makes her so fun to listen to while working.
Created by the host of Bridechilla, Aleisha Mccormack and her husband dive into relationships with clinical psychologist, Lindsey Bira. While some subjects are heavier, I find myself smiling to myself during most episodes. As someone who loves to think about relationship dynamics, dating, commitment and sex I find the series intriguing. Significant Other is definitely a new favorite!
I’ve only listened to a few episodes of this podcast but I am already intrigued! Each episode examines a chapter of Harry Potter as if it were a sacred text. The hosts look for underlying meaning and moral messages in the story. As a perpetual over analyzer I love the idea of looking at such a fun, fantastical story through an analytical lens. I can’t wait to listen to more!
A few Honorable Mentions:
Happy listening beautiful blog friends! xxoo!
