Good Morning! I have a busy Friday ahead of me, but this afternoon am heading to Leavenworth with my family to celebrate Octoberfest. I am not a beer drinker (I’ve literally never finished a glass) but I love any excuse to be festive and I can’t wait to re-wear the dirndl I picked up in Munich this summer.
Every couple of months I like to reintroduce myself just in case anyone new has started reading. Plus, I always love learning a little bit more about my favorite bloggers. It’s crazy how you can read every post someone writes for years and still learn something new about a person, it really goes to show you how multifaceted people are.
Exercising is my favorite form of stress relief. I’m pretty uncoordinated so you won’t find me at Zumba class or doing any tricky aerial yoga, I just love a good old fashioned run. Meet me to run around Greenlake or catch me on the treadmill before school or after a stressful day. I am naturally high strung and get very anxious often over nothing-running consistently helps me feel a little less crazy and panicky (though I am by no means prescribing running as an anxiety cure all). I don’t run crazy distances (generally just 3-5 miles) but I have run a few half marathons including the Disney Princess, Tinkerbell and Lululemon Seawheeze.
I am constantly years behind on the latest tv shows, movies and music. I love to follow fashion and Taylor Swift news but that seems to be where my relevancy ends. Maybe it’s because I didn’t have cable growing up (and still don’t now) or maybe it’s because I get too stir crazy to watch an entire movie but the only show I watch in real time (or should I say close to real time thanks to Hulu) is the Bachelor franchise. Right now I’m watching season two of The Good Wife and totally don’t mind that I’m not up to date on the latest and greatest fall shows.
I’ve got a little bit of Freud up in my head. Okay, maybe to but I do like to psychoanalyze everything (and every one). As much as I realize people don’t like to be torn apart mentally and picked apart like a frog in an 8th grade bio class room, I can’t help myself. Maybe in another life I should have been a psychologist!
I became a vegetarian when I was 12 mainly because I hated being forced to eat meat I didn’t like when I visited my Dad’s house (sorry Dad). My Mom was a vegetarian so it was an easy transition. I can’t say I had a super refined palette at that age because the only meat I missed was chicken nuggets, ha! Oh and for those of you who are bound to wonder, there is protein in vegetables and beans and eggs (because I’m not vegan so I do eat those). I never started craving meat, but I did incorporate select fish into my diet a few years back when I interned for a seafood company. Now I am a limited pescetarian (meaning I only eat fish), no calamari for me please (;
If you’ve read here for a while you’ve probably guessed I am 1000% shoe obsessed. My BF and I are drowning in shoes because neither of us can bear getting rid of our favorite pairs. We both are huge shoe people! Boots and booties are my favorite, and I swear getting a pair of leather Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots once cured me from food poisoning. The magic of fashion can do wonders!
I cannot paint my nails to save my life. My fine motor skills are way off. The same goes for my hair, I am so envious of anyone who can whip their mane into a cute messy bun or boxer braids. My hair is either up and legit messy (in a not cute, non-Pinterest-worthy) way or down and usually in soft curls. I admire creative hairstyles but I just don’t have the skills or patience necessary. I guess I wasn’t born to be a beauty blogger.
I believe in starting every day with a burst of sunlight, or at the very least fresh air. I get so stir crazy when I’ve been cooped up inside all day. Get this girl some Vitamin D pretty please. Long, gray, rainy winters in Seattle can really get me down. Throughout the summer and into the fall I get outside as much as possible, whether it’s a morning walk to get coffee, a weekend hike with friends, an afternoon jog or heading to the dog park with Pierre, I love being outside. While I would never consider myself a rugged outdoors person I did backpack with llamas when I was a kid and I got grounded for sneaking out and sleeping in a hammock in the woods as a junior in high school.
Be sure to comment with a couple of fun facts about yourself and while you’re at it have a fabulous weekend!
All photos are taken by Madeleine Wilson, definitely check her out if you are in the Seattle area <3
