Good Morning friends! As many of you know I started law school last week, thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who sent warm wishes and/or asked me how my class was. I tend to overthink any scenario that involves meeting new people so your encouragement really made an impact! I’ve found a few kind classmates to sit by and I look forward to hopefully making new friends throughout the school year. I imagine I’ll be fairly quiet around here for the next…I don’t know, three-ish years? I fully intend to keep blogging creatively but expect law school to be my primary focus for this next stage of my life. That being said, I still really appreciate the comments & follows. The community blogging has introduced me to has been meaningful to me over the past four years, I cannot imagine giving up blogging even if I am not present as frequently. I hope to mix things up with posts on dating, traveling, fashion, etc. but a good portion of posts will likely end up becoming mini life updates like this one. Why not grab an iced coffee (has it been hot hot hot where you live or is that just me?) and let’s catch up! Thank you for joining me (:
First off, for one whole week I have been in law school! The school I am attending offers 1L students the opportunity to take a single course in the summer before the “traditional start of school” in the fall. I jumped at the chance to get a head start on adapting to law school and alleviate my schedule a little for the fall semester. I started my summer criminal law class last Monday. The first week has been manageable, mind you I am only taking one class as opposed to the four I will be enrolled in for Fall semester. I have found my reading very interesting and the class discussions and lectures have been engaging thus far. There is quite a bit of dense reading (as I expected) but I was pleasantly surprised by how interested I have been in everything already. I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated on my impressions but definitely let me know if you have any specific law school questions.
Though it feels like I just left California I was already beginning to miss my brother, sister and Dad. This weekend my siblings came up from Napa Valley to visit and celebrate their birthdays (though they are 6 years apart their birthdays are only one day apart). We headed to Wild Waves on Friday and celebrated with a party at the zoo on Sunday afternoon. The weather could not have been better (bring on all the sunshine pretty please) and it was great to spend time with family who made the trek from out of town to celebrate Dylan and Gigi’s birthdays.
If you read around here you may know I fancy myself a Gwyneth Paltrow fan girl. Though I have yet to push a jade egg into you know where (no thanks) I enjoy reading Goop and really liked both her cook book (I only own IT’S ALL GOOD) and the Goop Clean Beauty book. When Nordstrom announced they would be hosting a Goop pop up shop I interpreted it as an obvious sign that I needed to try the products asap. I picked up the Goop Discovery Set which featured the Goop Oil, Revitalizing instant facial, moisturizer and night cream. Up until this point I have sworn by Kate Somerville (and I still do) but Goop has given Kate a run for her money (albeit at a higher price point). I’ve used the line for about a week and I must say the night cream is a MUST have. The thick, buttery cream delivers ultimate hydration and left my skin feeling supple and dewy in the morning. While the daily moisturizer was lovely as well, I didn’t notice much of a difference between its effects and my favorite Kate Somerville Goat’s milk moisturizer. I think I’ll stick with Kate Somerville as it is nearly $40 less expensive (that’s a whole lot of lattes you know?) My second favorite product was the face oil. At night I use Kate Somerville’s Quench Serum but don’t like to use products with even a little retinol in them during the day when my skin will be exposed to the sun. The Goop face oil seeps into the skin quickly and honestly feels hydrating enough on its own for my normal to dry skin. I wouldn’t hesitate to use the oil alone with spf for a minimilastic approach to skincare. You can find the whole skincare line directly on the Goop website now that it is no longer available at Nordstrom.
Enjoy the rest of your Monday or whatever day it is you happen to be reading. I love popping in to share the current happenings in my day to day life but a coffee date isn’t much fun without a companion to chat with, so do spill any new skincare secrets, life changes or heart warming moments<3
