When the seasons change the shopping bug bites me hard! Over the weekend I made a few impulse purchases in San Francisco (like these navy mules on sale & then Jordan surprised me with this purse I’ve wanted forever). Since Jordan and I are taking cutesy couple photos when I get back to Seattle I let myself order a few pieces for our photoshoot…so while I can window shop all I want, I really shouldn’t go crazy doing any more shopping right now. All of my shopping moving forward will be living vicariously through you guys (law school textbooks are expensive). Here is a list of the cute items I’ve found myself browsing for summer just in case you’re still looking for cute warm weather pieces.
Embroidered Denim Jacket- I stumbled across a denim jacket with the most lovely embroidered peacock at a small shop in Calistoga. When the weather gets warm I start craving all of the boho, flower child-esque pieces. I couldn’t find the exact jacket I purchased online but I did find a few beautiful alternatives. This one (pictured above), this one (under $40) and this one are all really fun options. I think a denim jacket is essential for summer bonfires, barbecues and to throw on over a romper/sundress/tee when it cools down for the evening.
Slitted Maxi- As comfy as maxi dresses are they can sometimes feel a little matronly. I love a slitted maxi to show off a cute pair of heels/wedges and give me a bit of height. The Provence dress feels both sexy and sophisticated.
Platform Wedges- You guys probably already know I am OBSESSED with retro vibes. I don’t like to dress head to toe in a specific period because I think it starts to feel a little costumey but I adore a throwback piece thrown in. I love the 60s and 70s feel of platform wedges. I’ve had my eyes on this See by Chloe pair and I picked up this Seychelles pair and I’ve been wearing them constantly.
Colorful Bikini- One pieces are still totally chic but I prefer bikinis for frolicking in the sun and splashing in the pool. This Mara Hoffman is so bright and cheerful I can’t help but envision myself lying on a Caribbean beach listening to reggae music and sipping a pina colada!
Embroidered Crop Top- A crop top like the TopShop Embroidered Crop is perfect for pairing with a high waisted skirt of high waisted shorts. While this look is a little much for class (and definitely not for work) it’s fun for a beach day, festival or hot day perusing your local farmer’s market. This option from Forever 21 is off the shoulder and comes in both yellow & white.
High Waisted Denim Shorts- High waisted shorts look so cute with crop tops, tanks and tees. I’ve had the most difficult time finding a great pair of high waisted shorts but I am determined to find a flattering pair this year. These Lovers & Friends shorts and this pair from Free People are super cute.
Round Basket Bag- Initially the basket bag trend didn’t seem like something I would jump on board with (I have a handful of trusted totes I didn’t see a reason for another “beach bag”). Then I saw a round basket bag and loved the way it could easily transition from jaunting about town to a date night. I love that this option is $41 and this option from Etsy is really unique.
Lemon Print Anything-Lemons are having a major fashion moment this summer. I just ordered this For Love & Lemons dress as a bit of a splurge piece that I’ll hopefully wear all summer. I am also in love with the jumpsuit and the two piece set in the same pattern. J.Crew has an adorable silk lemon print scarf for tying around your neck or decorating a tote or basket bag. Anthropolgie has a great lemon reef bikini that is lovely as a matching set or fun to mix and match with solid prints. If full on lemon print is a bit too much, this lemon colored lace dress caught my eye (it would be so lovely at a summer wedding or cocktail party).
What’s on your summer wish list? I hope you guys are having a wonderful week…I can’t believe my time in Calistoga is coming to an end.
