Happy February, I like to make this month all about celebrating love of all kinds. It doesn’t hurt that Jordan and I celebrate our second anniversary just a few days before Valentine’s Day. January was such a whirlwind (mostly in a good way but occasionally not so much) that the month seemed weirdly long (because how did I stuff so much into it) and short (where did time go?) all at the same time. It’s a strange yet truthful contradiction.
Oh February, how I have grown to love thee over the years! This short month always seems to sprint by between bites of pink frosted cookies and readings of love letters. At the end of February I begin to crave spring so I want to really embrace winter this month (even though it’s my least favorite season).
With a bit less on my agenda I’m looking forward to accomplishing a bit more this month.
February Goals & “To Dos”:
Focus on healthy living.
For me wellness is an ongoing goal, I can never quite check it off my to do list as it encompasses so many little pieces of my daily life. This month a few of my wellness goals include:
-Drinking one glass of water before I leave he house every morning (and thus before I have any coffee) thereby increasing the amount of water I drink every day.
-Tracking my workouts in my planner hitting at least 10 workouts over the course of the month (hopefully more).
-Trying a new workout class with a friend.
-Only having one coffee a day (and opting for tea if I have the need for some mid day caffeine…it happens!)
Save by giving up expenses that don’t really matter.
-Packing my lunch instead of eating out 80% of the time.
-Taking the bus (UGH) instead of Lyft and hopefully coercing Jordan into driving me to work whenever possible. Gosh guys I really hate public transportation.
-Only purchasing pieces that I love and that are high quality.
Limit news consumption to once a day.
I think we can all agree that politics and world news are extremely heated right now no matter what area of the spectrum you fall on. While I believe it is important to stay well informed I know reading the news (and Twitter) non stop all day is causing me more mental anguish than necessary. I’m hoping if I read the news once a day, as opposed to all day, I can stay in the know without so many full blown panic attacks at my desk.
Volunteer my Time.
One of my goals for 2017 is to spend more time giving back. I don’t have a lot of money to donate (though I do think it is important to donate what I can when possible) but I can make time on a weekend once a month to give back to my community.
Get Photos of Jordan & I.
I know a lot of people give major sideeye to non married/non engaged couples posing for overly lovey dovey couple photos. I hear you, noted your opinion and still find myself narcissistically obsessed with said photos. I love over the top cutesy couple photos and I have since I was 16. Maybe this is some sort of arrested development mentally stuck as a teenager thing but I sorta love couple photos and blogging gives me an excuse to embrace them even more often. In celebration of our 2nd dating anniversary I want to invest in a set of cutesy couple photos of Jordan and I. So there you go if you gag at least I warned you!
In addition to the five goals I listed I really want to focus on love this month. I know it’s cheesy to make February all about love just because of a Hallmark holiday but I like love and I think the world needs a little more love right now. Lately the world feels tense, I find myself ranting angrily at every dinner conversation and scrolling through Facebook rolling my eyes. I don’t think there is anything wrong with natural reactions (even if they are negative) but I want to focus on adding some love not the mix. I want to focus on throwing around kindness like confetti just for the heck of it.
What are you striving to do more of this February?
