It’s funny because when I sit down to blog everything I write has some tie in to my own life. When I blog about job interviews it’s usually because I’m job hunting, when I blog about lessons in love it’s usually because I just learned something new about relationships, when I round up a bunch of cute bags it’s usually because I’m craving one myself…you get the idea. Every single post ties into my life in one way or another and while recaps of weekends or trips are quite obvious, other posts are more subtle. It just so happens that 2017 has already been quite the year for me. There are a lot of changes that have already occurred or are in the works. So today I don’t have any product reccomendations or big epiphanies just a few life updates that have been occupying my mind.
On the Job
As you may have read I started a new job in my 25th birthday. I previously worked in the fashion department at Amazon but decided to shift industries to gain more exposure to the legal field prior to attending law school. Admittedly my job as a receptionist has little to do with a future career as an attorney but I have enjoyed immersing myself in the jargon and atmosphere of a law firm. I am doing my best to learn more about the field while I am here even though my job doesn’t directly relate to my future aspirations.
Law School Applications
Despite a LSAT score that I didn’t believe aligned with my full potential I decided to apply to a handful of law schools while simultaneously studying for the June LSAT. My theory is a little non commital I realize but…my idea is that if I get into a school I’m interested in with a decent scholarship there is no need to retake the LSAT whereas if I don’t than I will retake it in June. So far I’ve only heard from one school and I was accepted…now I’m just waiting on verdicts from six more.
Las Vegas Weekend
I have never considered myself a Vegas person. Since I’ve lived a few states away my entire life I have been to Vegas several times (for the first time at age 5)! When I visited a couple months after my 21st birthday I wasn’t all that impressed. I had a decent enough time but as my (then) boyfriend lost all of our rent money playing roulette I was in no hurry to go back. All relationships end for a reason right? (;
This time around I’m actually pretty excited. Jordan and I are going with his brother and his brother’s wife for an extra long weekend. I’m ready to hit up a few shows, hopefully road trip to the Grand Canyon and maybe indulge in a little spa treatment. I was so sad to discover that Brittney won’t be performing the weekend I’m visiting but I’m hoping to be blown away by Cirque du Soleil! If you have any Vegas suggestions (for a non party girl who goes to bed at ten) please send them my way! My trip is only one week away!
My apartment lease is up at the end of March but Jordan and I were planning to rent month to month until we could buy something. Well, life often laughs at your plans and in this case our landlords informed us they are planning to sell our unit. As we have no interest in buying our place (it’s dark & dingy with an oh so glamourous ant infestation) we are hunting for a new place to live come April 1st. I’m crossing my fingers and praying we can find some place with lots of natural light (and zero ants) within walking distance of my job (yay for avoiding the bus altogether). I’ll definitely be sharing decor inspired content when we find our next place.
& most importantly…The Bachelor
Of course I’m watching The Bachelor and as always I’m questioning why I obsess over cheesy reality tv. I actually find Nick 95% less annoying than a lot of the other bachelors despite his history with the franchise. I personally can’t stand a lot of the meathead bros who seemingly have rocks for brains and tend to view women as slices of meat (ahem Juan Carlos). Still I have a lot of thoughts on the season. I’m really entertained by Corrine so I don’t really mind that she’s made it so far (she clearly knows she’s ridiculous and revels in it) plus even though I want Nick to choose Raven I think Corrine will win because Nick doesn’t seem to mind the idea of a hot 24 year old sugar mama. Mostly I’m so happy Rachel is the next Bachelorette. I tend to prefer when the bachelorette date in their late twenties/early thirties instead of early-mid twenties (to me it just seems more believable). Of course Rachel seems smart and sweet and we can’t ignore the fact that The Bachelor/Bachelorette is a fairly whitewashed franchise and I’m happy to see a bit more racial diversity from the show. I’ll definitely be tuning in to watch Rachel find love! Okay but now for the important part…who are you rooting for? Who do you see Nick proposing to at the end of all this?
