Skincare is sort of an obsession for me. Though I like makeup, I’m admittedly pretty terrible at applying it. I prefer heading into Sephora before any big events to have my makeup applied. Skincare is easier though-I can smother on a few serums, moisturizer and eye cream on my own thus making it my favorite step of my beauty routine.
Healthy skin is SO important. My sophomore year of college I went through a gross tanning phase. My skin looked so unhealthy and I wish I could take back all of the unnecessary damage I caused my skin. Luckily I have since adopted better skincare practices (and of course I use SPF and stay far away from tanning beds).
When it comes to products, I love to try new things. My aunt introduced me to Kate Somerville and my mom swears by Origins. I like experimenting with everyone’s suggestions! Today I’m sharing a few of the products I’ve tested recently.
BioClarity| I’ve sworn by Kate Somerville’s clarifying cleanser in the past-I loved the scent and cleansing feeling but always felt like I immediately needed to put on moisturizer after the shower. My skin felt so dry it was practically tingling (but I thought this was normal) until I tried BioClarity.
BioClarity’s cleanser isn’t harsh so it cleans my skin without leaving my face feeling stripped of all moisture. While in the Bahamas my Aunt forgot her cleanser and asked to borrow mine. She was so impressed by the gentle cleansing effect. With sun exposure, salt water and let’s be honest extra champagne consumption my skin needed a good wash that would soothe it.
Looking at the BioClarity ingredients and reading through the website I was impressed by the natural plant based formula without added harsh chemicals. I highly reccomend this daily three step system!
Mac Marine Bright Moisturizer| Despite the cult like following I’ve never been a big MAC fan. The products have always seemed fine to me but never worth all the hype. That being said I was pleasently surprised by this ultra hydrating daily moisturizer. I bought this product on a whim after getting my makeup done by MAC for New Year’s Eve. I just love how hydrated and supple my skin feels using this product.
Origins Plantscription Serum| I grabbed the Origins Plantscription Serum on a recent trip to Sephora, intrigued by the blend of plant based anti aging ingredients I have been happy with the Serum so far. At 25 I don’t have any wrinkles yet but I do have delicate fine lines near my eyes. I am using this Serum as more of a preventative measure but I have really liked the smoothing effect this Serum has on my skin. I’ll keep you guys updated when I have been using the Serum for longer to let you know if I see more dramatic results.
Body Merry Hyaluronic Acid Serum I ordered this Serum by accident when trying to order the retinol Serum I mentioned in this post. I have been using the hyralunic Serum in the morning along with the plantscription Serum. This light weight Serum leave so my skin feeling dewy and glowy. At such a reasonable price point I think this Serum is an affordable staple!
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum| I tried this serum because I heard about the benefits of vitamin C, vitamin E and green tea for your skin. While using this serum I unfortunately didn’t notice much (except for that I didn’t love the sticky feeling of this serum) however I am willing to bet that many of the effects of this serum are preventative rather than instant. This serum wasn’t my favorite but I did not have any negative reactions and with all of the positive reviews on Sephora I’m willing to bet this would be a great choice for someone else.
Fresh Rose Face Mask| After traveling to California, then the Bahamas and back to Washington again my skin was practically reptilian! This ultra hydrating mask eliminates dryness and soothes sun kissed skin. I’ve been using this mask about twice a week for the past month and I have loved the cool feeling of the mask on my skin while I take a hot bath.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray| A friend at work gave me this spray because she didn’t like it for herself, however I like it for a quick mist when my skin needs a little mid day pick-me-up. The mist feels refreshing and slightly cleansing making it great for a spritz if you’re headed straight from the gym to brunch or from a long day at work to happy hour.
Now it’s your turn! Pretty please share all of your skincare favorites (especially serums, I adore serums). If you’re looking to switch up the way you wash up head over to BioClarity and give it a try! I’ll be eagerly waiting for your skin suggestions so be sure to send them over!
