Guys, I had the best weekend. In fact all of December has been pretty good to me so far and with the holidays (and a vacation to the Bahamas) right around the corner I can’t imagine this month being anything short of magical. Honestly, for most of October and November I was in a bit of a negative funk. I can’t say the cold weather and dark days still don’t get to me (they do!) but I’m finally adjusting to the season. Every year I’m ecstatic when December 21st passes and the days start getting lighter instead of darker.
Okay back to this wonderful weekend- I had the best time catching up with friends, eating yummy food, Christmas shopping and ice skating on Friday and Saturday. Jordan and I are slowly looking for a place to buy though we are in no real hurry at this point. We go back and forth between wanting a condo close to downtown or a house in a less central location. After viewing a condo with tons of character and a view of the water the idea of moving started to feel real! The idea of buying some place cute and turning it into another cluttered mess really threw me head first into a downward spiral of panic. I went through my closet and donated or consigned several boxes of old clothes and books. I didn’t make much but the instant gratification of a little extra cash made me feel accomplished. With the money I made I bought a few Christmas gifts and let me tell you I felt pretty good about the whole thing. I’m tempted to minimize my wardrobe even more but worried I’ll regret downsizing too much later on.
Then on Sunday morning I woke up with an extra pep in my step excited to get dressed up and see The Pacific Northwest Ballet version of The Nutcracker. I have always loved going to shows and being a naturally clutzy person I find ballet incredibly impressive. Growing up I tried to attend The Nutcracker as often as possible but I had not seen the production since the set was changed a year or two ago. The new set and costumes did not disappoint. I swear to you, I was grinning like a lunatic throughout the performance. During intermission we grabbed a bite to eat and I could not stop gushing. The stage was enchanting. The performers were so talented. The costumes were straight out of this fashion lovers’ dreams. The second half of the performance was even better! I was so impressed and wrapped up in the magic of the atmosphere. When we got home I danced around the kitchen for a solid half hour. Maybe I’m crazy but I like to think I was just inspired (: I’m so happy Jordan and I seized the opportunity to grab tickets for the show!
Let me highly encourage you to end every weekend with a hot bath and Lush bath bomb. I treated myself to a bowl of ice cream and a compelling read. It was a great, relaxing way to round out the weekend. I was so relaxed I slept in until 8:00 on Monday morning (not the usual). It was a truly wonderful weekend and I must say I was sad to see it go.
I hope you had a lovely weekend! I would love to hear about how your month is going so far. Are you traveling for the holidays? Planning a vacation this winter?
P.S. Be sure to link up with Kristin & I for Tutu Tuesday.
