It wasn’t until college that I really started to love Halloween. Of course I enjoyed dressing up and bags full of candy as a child but by college Halloween was my favorite holiday. Though I’m not crazy about scary haunts I adore any excuse to dress up. In the past I’ve spent the entire month looking for reasons to celebrate Halloween from pumpkin patch excursions to haunted houses and hayrides. This year I’ve been so preoccupied with studying for the LSAT that Halloween seemingly snuck up on me.
I had the best time celebrating over the weekend with my family in the Napa Valley region. We attended “The Pagan Ball” at The Castello di Amarosa, a winery in Calistoga. I have attended the party for the past few years and I’ve never failed to be impressed! There are so many great costumes and a variety of activities. A haunted house, a dance floor, fortune tellers and wine tasting…I definitely reccomend celebrating Halloween at a castle.
I usually know what I want to be for Halloween by the end of August but October really snuck up on me this year. Did anyone else completely sleep through September? Jordan and I decided to be Margot and Richie Tenenbaum after rewatching the movie earlier this month. Luckily my aunt owns a great vintage fur I was able to borrow to complete the look. Though the costumes look pretty easy, it did take a little hunting at Goodwill, Etsy, Amazon and a sports store in the U.K. to pull our outfits together. We definitely needed a few weeks to plan all the little details but I’m happy with how it turned out.
As of right now we don’t have any plans for tonight…I’m so tired all I really want to do is curl up in bed and eat Reese’s pumpkins. I’m sure I’ll end up heading out for a few hours though.
What are your plans for Halloween? Are you/have you dressed up? Have a wonderful Halloween!
