Like I said yesterday, September flew by! It has been a historically “slow” month over here at The Fairy Princess Diaries. I can’t think of a time in the past three years that I have blogged so infrequently. Since I use this blog as more than just a conversation, I like to use it as a bit of an online scrapbook or diary, I want to take time to talk about a few of my favorites from September that haven’t made it onto the blog yet.
Though the month has flown by it has been a very full month. I have so much to be thankful for from beautiful weather to new opportunities to time spent with family and friends (the best). I hope your month has been filled with love and happy experiences too!
One: A Hike up Mt.Si
Towards the beginning of the month Jordan, Pierre and I joined my best friend Laura and her boyfriend for a Sunday hike. It was fun to talk with friends all day. People always think it’s funny that we bring Pierre along for outdoor adventures because he is so small and skinny. Pierre absolutely adores hiking! I love watching him run around with Jordan like the wild things they are.
Two: Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Last year at this time I hadn’t even tasted a pumpkin spice latte but this year I was in line to grab one on the first day. Put me on the #Basic train; I love the taste of fall.
Three: Pike Place Market Date with friends
One afternoon after work I met my sorority little (named Laura) and friend (also named Laura) for a little girl time at Pike Place Market. The sun was shining and the sunflowers were abundant. I love living so close to such a busy and beautiful farmer’s market.
Four: Seattle Underground Tour
Though I’ve lived near Seattle my entire life I was excited to play tourist for an evening. Jordan’s cousin and his cousin’s wife were in town from Mexico so we had the perfect excuse to tour the city. After a delicious Italian dinner we headed to the Seattle Underground tour in Pioneer Square. For those visiting Seattle in the near future, I highly recommend the tour! Our tour guide was so animated and completely hilarious. I’m a history nerd so I knew the tour would be fascinating but I didn’t know it would be so silly.
Five: Mani/Pedi Date with my Mom
I always love family time and a little pampering never hurt either. My nails were desperately in need of some sprucing up. After a long and somewhat emotional day it was so nice to spend a little time with my Mom.
Six: Canoeing in the Sunshine
As you may know I love any excuse to spend time in the sunshine. My bestie, Nicole, is no different. Girl talk, champagne and a pretty view complete with blue herons is the recipe for a perfect afternoon.
Seven: A new Clarisonic (full review coming soon)
About four years ago I bought my first Clarisonic and my skincare routine was revolutionized. I used the Mia 1 for a two years before it was tragically lost in my move from Seattle to Nova Scotia. When I received the opportunity to try a new Clarisonic Mia 2 I was ecstatic. I use my Clarisonic a few times a week for a deeper clean. My skin always feels so much cleaner (and smoother) after use. The Clarisonic is like a mini shower facial and I love it.
Eight: Nicole’s 24th Birthday!
Last weekend I spent both Friday and Saturday ringing in my friend Nicole’s 24th birthday. On Friday we drank wine and hit up Gameworks (I still have to say my favorite game is the Photo Booth). Saturday started with Whirly Ball (have you played? I’m awful) then a picnic at Green Lake then a big group headed to a bar with bowling and pool. Everyone sucked at bowling, which I can say confidently as I won.
Nine: A Day trip to Whidbey Island
Jordan’s family stayed in a house beachside on Whidbey Island for a weekend. Jordan and I were invited to come along but couldn’t commit to staying over the whole weekend, so we made a day trip out of it. Jordan’s aunt is the BEST cook and spoiled us with delicious meal after delicious meal. Even though the day was gray and windy it was so much fun to be at the beach.
What was your favorite part of September? Do you have any amazing memories? Television show recommendations? Podcasts you love? New beauty products? Books you couldn’t put down? I want to read all about your September favorites too!
