I swear a weekend has never sped by faster than this last weekend of August! I spent Friday afternoon enjoying the sunshine and hot weather with Jordan before the busiest Saturday of the month so far! We spent Saturday night at a friend’s property near the Hood Canal. We played games, drank lots of champagne and watched the magical bioluminescent algae in the water at night. I swear the algae looked like magical fairies or water nymphs glowing. I hate swimming in cold water so I didnt get in but I loved watching the algae glow around my bestie. If you ever have the chance to experience the magic of glowing algae I definitely recommend seeing it for yourself.
A lazy Sunday was a much needed relaxing way to wrap up the weekend. I’m headed to Jackson Hole for a long weekend on Friday and I could not be more excited. I’m desperately hoping for warm weather and lots of sunshine so we can spend the whole weekend playing outside. I am 100% in denial about summer ending in just a few short weeks.
I was so excited Sunday afternoon when we stumbled across the most adorable coffee, ice cream & treat stand near Golden Gardens (a beach in Ballard). It was a dreary, overcast day so ice cream seemed liked the perfect treat to cheer me up. I get so sad when it isn’t sunny.
I meant to order two scoops of ice cream (banana peanut butter & chocolate pudding) but somehow ended up with two cones. Since I am socially awkward I felt too shy to correct the girl who worked at the ice cream stand. Even though I am working on eating mindfully and healthfully I knew I couldn’t let my Sunday ice cream treat go to waste.
Some days you eat kale salads & drink apple cider vinegar…some days you eat two ice cream cones.
Life is all about balance right?
I just bought this dress a few weeks ago and I’ve already worn it a handful of times. I love the blue paisley print and neck tie for the end of summer and all through fall. The same dress is also available in black…I am so tempted to buy it! I work in a very casual environment so I can wear pretty much whatever I want (#Score). I could wear leggings and a sweatshirt every single day but I work in the fashion department so I assume it’s part of my job to look halfway put together.
This dress checks all my “wear to work” boxes, it’s comfortable, it’s figure flattering and it’s on-trend for the season. I know I sound like a broken record but I CANNOT get enough of the seventies inspired pieces that are so in style right now. Pussybows and paisley make my heart flutter. I still can’t accept that temperatures will be dropping drastically after the next few weeks but I like to be a smart shopper. When I’m shopping in summer I try to only buy pieces that can transition easily to fall. I imagine throwing on a pair of black tights and my all time favorite over the knee boots for a retro cold weather look.
There are so many cute dresses in stores for fall. I could max out my credit card in an instant:
