By day working as a “Fashion Specialist” at Amazon I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about summer trends. I love playing with trends and mixing more fashion forward pieces in with timeless capsule pieces. Though I don’t embrace all trends (minimalism or androgynous pieces aren’t for me) I do enjoy seeing what comes in and out of style. Fashion speaks volumes about society! This summer I am pretty obsessed with a few key trends.
The 70s trend is still going strong (and let’s hope it’s here to stay). Bell sleeves, lace up tops, flared denim, fringe, suede minis and burnt orange are just a few of my favorite 70s flashbacks. I’m all about flower child vibes through the summer and love incorporating bits of the 70s in every outfit.
Sneakers with Everything
Rejoice! Sneakers are having a major fashion moment right now. Worn with mini dresses and skirts or denim and athletic wear, sneakers are the most comfortable style trend this season. I am totally a girly-girl but I also like to walk whenever possible. I’ve had my fair share of painful days due to uncomfortable heels and ballet flats that have given me blisters. Ouch! I love an excuse to embrace comfortable sneakers (this month I picked up this pair and this pair and I’ve been wearing them on repeat).
Off the Shoulder
You can’t be a real blogger without at least a handful of off the shoulder tops and dresses right? Bare shoulders are everywhere on swimsuits, weddings dress, tees and rompers! This trend is perfectly flirty and romantic making it great for a date night or evening out.
Is it just me or are bombers the ultimate street style MUST HAVE? I mean Gigi Hadid has to have at least twenty-five bombers with her name embroidered on them or I’m going insane. Though I’m no super model, I’m on the hunt for the perfect bomber to wear all summer and transition to fall. I love that bombers make a girly dress feel edgier and a gym outfit a bit cooler. Mixing hard and soft pieces creates a look that doesn’t feel too costume-y.
One of two pantone colors of the year, rose quartz looks great on every skin tone! Add a touch of femininity with rose quartz nails or try a rose quartz dress for a romantic look. To keep your aesthetic from looking overly girly pair with a touch of olive (one of my favorite color combinations).
One trend I haven’t tried (well, at least not since the 90s…) is chokers! I love the look of choker necklaces and definitely want one of my own. Baublebar has so many great options (like this and this and this) which one is a girl supposed to choose?
