Friday night after work Jordan and I rushed home and packed my car full of Easter candies and overnight bags. As always our plans to leave “right after work” fell through and we found ourselves on the road late into the night. The four hour drive flew by after the half hour detour searching for something slightly more sophisticated to eat than Taco Bell at 11:30 at night. We gave in and opted for drive thru burritos. We reached our bed and breakfast and tip toed in trying not to rustle a loose floorboard or place too much pressure on a creaky stair. As we snuggled into bed we laughed about how staying at a bed and breakfast sort of feels like staying at your overly strict grandmother’s house and soon we fell asleep.
The following morning a stranger bought us breakfast before we headed into the sleepy town of Astoria to explore. Jordan enjoyed watching the sea lions nuzzle into one another in a sleepy haze on the dock. Sea lions have the sweetest puppy faces that made us both miss Pierre terribly.
Stumbling through the city I discovered the cutest boho boutique called Doe & Arrow. Wearing nothing but a romper and fur vest in the 40 degree weather I set out to buy a sweater and ended up with a few too many cute pieces. It was a grown up Easter basket! We grabbed dinner by the water and headed back to the bed and breakfast to eat chocolate in the bathtub while reading about royal couples throughout history. As if we weren’t nerdy enough, the hot water must have put us to sleep, we climbed into bed and fell asleep before 10:00pm. It was a wild Saturday night friends!
Sleeping in on Easter morning was luxurious! We enjoyed breakfast at the cutest bakery we discovered in Astoria last year and then spend the rest of the morning walking on the beach. Though the weather was far from warm I insisted on wearing rompers all weekend leaving my legs to freeze. While walking toward the iconic Haystack rock we were actually caught in a hailstorm that left us sprinting towards my car. Shaking from the cold and laughing at my self for my impractical choice of wardrobe it was an exhilarating afternoon.
Jordan and I packed the car and headed back to Seattle. The weekend flew by so quickly but allowed for a wonderful escape. On the drive home we sang nemonic devices , taught ourselves the military alphabet and recited more historical facts on royal families throughout history. A road trip with us sounds like a party right? (;
How was your Easter weekend? We’re thinking of using Easter as a great excuse to get away to the beach every year.
