Though it is officially Spring the warmer weather still hasn’t quite arrived yet. Walking to my car for a quick Starbucks run this morning I was shivering, and though the sun was shining I wasn’t ready to pack away my cozy warm socks or oversized sweaters just yet.
Tonight I’m leaving for a quick weekend trip to the Oregon Coast with Jordan. We’ve hired a puppy sitter for Pierre and we are ready to enjoy a few days just the two of us. Though the weather will not be warm by any measure, I find the sound and smell of the ocean refreshing nonetheless. I’m excited to cartwheel in the sand, dip my toes in the freezing water, wander through little shops and sleep in next to my bestie.
What to Pack for a Beach Getaway:
One| Stylish Tote Bag : For a weekend away I ditch the cutesy purses and opt for a bag that can fit a book, a pair of sunglasses, snacks and even a sweater if need be. The slouchier the better and bonus points for a pastel hue in honor of Easter weekend. This Tory Burch version and this Madewell version are both perfect for a short getaway.
Two| Wear Everywhere Booties: It’s become quite obvious I wear my Free People Carerra booties as often as possible. They’re so comfortable and easy to wear with denim, with a sun dress or with a romper. I won’t wear these booties on the beach but for frolicking through town or out to dinner they make my legs look fabulous without making my feet ache. This Jeffery Campbell option is also versatile!
Three| Playful Romper: For the past few years rompers have been one of my favorite warm weather trends. I’ll be re-wearing one of my favorites from last year while daydreaming about this Lush romper and this For Love and Lemons red romper. I’ll throw on a long cardigan to stay warm on the windy beach.
Four| Oversized Sweater: For serious beach walking I prefer to pack an oversized wool turtleneck to throw on with denim for a carefree look to stay warm. We all know ocean air can be brutally cold and I have no intentions of freezing for the sake of Spring fashion.
Five| Comfortable Sneakers: The beach is no place for heels and booties and since it isn’t summer yet sandals lead to toes that are numb from being so cold. Opt for a pair of casual sneakers like converse or Keds with a funky design (obviously I love the Taylor Swift versions best).
Six| Off the Shoulder Top: Off the Shoulder is so trendy and a great way to celebrate Spring and all the warm weather to come. I am planning on ordering this top from ShopJoyworks (sadly I don’t have it in time for this weekend) and also adore this boho feeling option.
Seven| White Denim: Pair your off the shoulder top with your favorite pair of white jeans for a look that says Spring but feels warm enough for crisp air and the occasional chance of showers. My favorite white denim are from Henry & Belle and Madewell but Topshop has some cute distressed options too!
Eight| An Easter Dress: Though we won’t be doing anything too out of the ordinary for Easter, I love the excuse to dress up. I packed this lace piece I found on the Free People clearance rack last week. I can’t seem to find the dress online but a similar version can be found here or if you’re lucky your local Free People store may have one.
Do you have any plans for Easter weekend? Are you getting together with family? Heading to church? Eating chocolate bunnies with no regrets? Have a fabulous Spring weekend! Extra love and happy vibes from me <3
