Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I’ve never been someone who goes crazy celebrating and much prefer an evening in then one out. One of my favorite ways to spend time with Jordan is to make something delicious and play games at home. As much as I love an adventure, I crave the undivided attention and opportunity to relax with each other among our busy (often opposite) schedules. This year I found was originally supposed to work all day but switched with a coworker last minute giving me an extra day off to celebrate. Last year Jordan and I spent Valentine’s Day in both San Francisco and Los Angeles together. We figured California’s two biggest cities would be hard to beat so we thought a more intimate celebration would be appropriate.
Opting for a night in rather than a night out doesn’t confine you to watching a movie and falling asleep by 10:00pm. I always want a night at home to feel just as special as a night out. Simple switches turn a boring Sunday night at home into a special evening you can remember with your boyfriend/girlfriend. For example, instead of ordering pizza make your own! Pick out your favorite toppings, sauces and pre-made dough at the grocery store and have fun designing your own pizzas together. Bonus points if you’re able to roll the dough into a heart shape! Take photos of your night even if they’re blurry so you can remember this Valentine’s day together for years to come.
If you have the whole day free celebrate by making brunch and eating it together in bed. A morning mimosa curled up under a cozy quilt next to the boy I love is an ideal way to start the day! Be creative, your Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to be all about dinner, a heart shaped box of chocolates and a movie unless you want it to be.
Likewise take the opportunity to dress up for the occasion. If you were going out for Valentine’s Day dinner you’d use it as an excuse to pick up a cute new outfit (I know I would)! Yet, when we stay in we don’t feel like we have the excuse to spend money on ourselves but you deserve to feel sassy and cute on Valentine’s Day (and the rest of the year). Instead of slopping around the house in your tried and true old sweatpants from high school and your boyfriend’s oversized sweaters try a sexier piece from Designer Intimates. I seize any chance to dress up in something new and outside the ordinary whether it’s a cute new dress or a lace night gown and I swear the way I’m dressed contributes to my mood.
Frolicking around your house in a cute lacy set is half the fun. Skipping through the kitchen baking pizzas, eating ice cream and hopping back to the couch to play Dominos totally makes me feel like an underwear model on set (because I’m sure underwear models eat pizza and play games at work, what else would they do?).
Designer Intimates is a great shop for upgrading your pajama and lingerie drawer without feeling guilty about the cost. All three pieces I picked up totaled under $100 meaning there was money left over for Valentine’s day celebrating (yay mimosas in bed). Whether you’re a lingerie girl (see the great selection of lingerie here) or prefer comfy cozy pajamas (see wonderful options here) you can find something soft, special and sexy for Valentine’s Day or anytime of the year. No fear, Your boyfriend doesn’t need to feel left out! If you’re going to upgrade your pajama drawer your valentine can too! Designer Intimates offers a men’s section with underwear and pajamas for the man in your life.
Do you prefer lingerie or super comfy pajamas? I can’t choose! I need both! How do you spice up a day or night at home?
