Sunday was my twenty-fourth birthday, though I spent the day working (and didn’t even mind meaning I clearly must be a real grown up), I celebrated with family and friends on Saturday. I am so grateful for the friends and family who helped ring in a new year of life and filled my day with glitter and love!
Saturday morning started with brunch at the Space Needle. I can never say no to mimosas, or breakfast treats! The sun was shining and the view was incredible! The Space Needle often gets a bad reputation (overpriced, bad food) but I actually thought my veggie scramble was really delicious. You’re paying for the 360 view of Seattle, of course, but the skyline is gorgeous. I’m like a child, I’ll never tire from the excitement of staring down at the city.
I spent the remainder of the afternoon running around in search of a birthday dress for the evening. Over the years I’ve discovered January is by far the worst month to shop for cute dresses. After the holidays the stores are bare and no one wants to wear cute dresses until Valentine’s day so even Anthropologie and Free People were difficult to spend money at. Luckily I found a cute corduroy floral dress that maintained the retro vibe I was looking for.
That evening my aunt planned the most lovely birthday dinner at Tavalota. The italian restaurant planned a special menu for the group. Each course was more amazing than the last, I could not believe how much food we received. Multiple kinds of bruschetta, fish, pasta, salad, beef tenderloin, and mini doughnuts filled the table. Dinner was a true feast, I don’t think it is possible that any of the guests left feeling hungry. It was the first year since high school I had a joint party with both family and friends. I worried it might be a little awkward for the guests but (as usual) my anxiety was all for nothing. The dinner party was exactly what I needed to celebrate this year. I am so grateful my Aunt took on the task of planning such a warm and intimate get together.
After dinner I grabbed a few drinks at a Speakeasy style bar with my best friend Nicole, friend Allyse and Jordan. I wasn’t quite ready to end the celebration but had to work Sunday morning so I knew it was best to call it a night.
I feel so lucky the people in my life took the time to make my first few hours as a twenty-four year old so filled with love and laughter. I feel good things for the next year! Twenty-four, I’m ready for you! <3
