Oh joy! Happy 2016 my friends! This year I rung in the new year at the Castello di Amorosa, by far my favorite party venue in all of Napa Valley. If you ever have the chance to attend a party at the castle I highly reccomend going, the attention to detail and celebratory festivities are truly lovely. We dined in the cellars, sipped champagne, and danced the night away. I kissed my prince in a castle at midnight, who could ask for more? I feel good things for 2016 my darlings!
I love Rent the Runway and was excited to wear something a little different for this year’s NYE celebration. I picked this Marchesa Notte baroque style gown because it felt like an art piece all on its own. The embroidered flower details really stood out and felt perfect for a formal affair at a castle. Then I found a pair of equally artistic Manolo Blahnik sandals on TheRealReal and decided to embrace my inner Carrie Bradshaw for a fancy evening. Of course I had to indulge in my favorite vanity-getting my makeup done at Sephora. The makeup artist spent so much time giving me the coolest gold, glittery smoky eyes. I felt like the best combination of Lady Gaga and a Victoria’s Secret angel. If only I could figure out how to properly apply makeup on my own. It’s not a talent I am gifted with!
January is a big month for me. I start a new job, I celebrate my blog’s third birthday, and I turn 24! January is a big refresh for everybody, but I think all January babies can agree that the new year and birthday combination makes the month feel extra monumental. This month I’m hoping to adjust to a new job (and schedule) while staying balanced in my personal life. I’ve set a few goals for myself to help ensure I stay focused and excited to begin the year.
One| Read Two new Books
I love reading and want to start the new year by relaxing with a few new books. Starting a new job and adjusting to a new schedule I want to make sure I set aside time to read. If you have any suggestions feel free to send them my way, I love pretty much all genres!
Two| Work with a new Photographer
Last winter I spent a lot of time modeling which was awesome but really burned me out after a few months. This winter I want to shoot with a few new photographers both for commercial projects and for my blog. This month I’m hoping to collaborate with a new photographer (or two) for fashion posts for this space.
Three| Have a Fabulous Birthday Party
January 17th I turn 24, I can hardly believe I am entering my mid-twenties. Last year my birthday felt pretty lavish, this year I want something a bit more subdued. My Aunt is in town for my birthday weekend so I know the celebration will be fabulous. I’m planning a dress up dinner party, I truly wish I could invite my blog friends to celebrate with me.
Four| Go Snowboarding with Jordan Twice
I have a season pass for snowboarding this year and I want to make sure I don’t waste it. I want to make sure I get up to the mountain at least twice this month to play in the snow with Jordan. I’m hoping by snowboarding more I will start to improve and decrease the frustration and nervousness I feel. I don’t care about learning to do jumps or being the fastest boarder, I just want to be good enough I can enjoy snowboarding as a hobby with friends.
Five| Start seeing a Therapist
I’ve talked before about being pro-therapy, I believe everyone can benefit from talking to someone unbiased about their life. In the past I’ve really benefited from meeting weekly to talk with a counselor about anxiety, though I don’t have as many anxiety issues any more I would like to find a good therapist to meet with to discuss more emotions and reflections. It helps that a few of my best friends are in school to become counselors, I’m around counselor speak all the time! My goal for January is to find a great therapist and set up my initial meeting.
Did you set goals for this month? For 2016? I find learning about the goals of others so motivating, if you feel compelled to share I would love to hear your ambitions.
