This year my Aunt and Uncle invited Jordan and I to celebrate Halloween with them in Calistoga. Calistoga is my favorite little small town situated in Napa Valley. We decided to attend the Pagan Ball on Halloween night at the Castello di Amorosa. I have been to several wonderful parties at the castle before, I’ve never been disappointed. You can see the last Castello di Amorosa Halloween Party I attended here.
This year I decided to dress as Taylor Swift in the Blank Space music video. The official title of my costume was of course “Darling I’m a Nightmare Dressed Like a Daydream”. I was excited to take my Taylor Swift fandom to a new level by playing crazy girlfriend the entire night. It wasn’t too difficult to convince Jordan to be one of the lovers who had crossed me. Taylor Swift has SO many gorgeous looks in Blank Space but I knew the tear stained, psycho girlfriend, leopard outfit would stand out the most. Of course I had to finish of the look with red lips and nails, super smeared eyeliner, and a few props (a knife and a golf club).
Jordan’s look was a little more difficult because it was harder to create something recognizable. We knew he needed a suit and a few battle wounds, but otherwise it was tricky! Initially I wanted him to wear a cut up shirt because Taylor burns and cuts up her suitor’s clothes in the video. Sadly, Jordan was less thrilled about the idea of wearing a chopped up top. I still think he pulled off the man that crossed me pretty well.
Though I have attended the Pagan Ball at the Castello di Amorosa in the past I can honestly say this year was even better! There was a haunted house down in the cellars, a super fun dance floor, a cigar lounge, a “food court” with yummy international catering in the court yard, a group of fortune tellers, a reserve tasting lounge and of course endless wine for the entire evening. It is really difficult to top a Castello di Amorosa party!
All of the guests go all out on their costumes. There were outfits for every theme you could imagine- from intense Star Wars characters, Phantom of the Opera costumes, Disney Princess gowns fit for actual princesses and elaborate makeup creating zombies and ghouls. The best part of the night had to be just standing and people watching. No one comes unprepared to a party at the Castello di Amorosa, everyone brings their all!
Of course not many people understood our costumes but I was alright with that. I really wanted to emulate Taylor in Blank Space (for what feels like forever) so I didn’t mind sacrificing a little. I already feel so nostalgic looking back on the magical evening. I adore Castello di Amorosa parties and I cannot wait to attend another!
How was your Halloween? Did you dress up and dance the night away? Did you pass out candy or watch a scary movie? I want to hear all about it!
P.S. I ordered my dress from Rent the Runway. This is my fourth time using the service and as always I was so so happy with my gown. My exact dress was only a $30 rental which was a great price for a Halloween costume! I also considered this leopard dress for a sassier look.
