I know it’s still the beginning of the month but so far my October is off to a great start (I hope yours is too). I’ve recently started coaching a team of ten girls through a program called Girls on the Run and I am already completely in love with them. We meet twice a week to help prepare the girls for a 5k race in December. The girls are so enthusiastic about practice, snacks, stickers, coloring…everything! Spending just a few hours with them is tiring but they remind me to maintain a cheerful exuberance for life. Last night and this evening I am overnight sitting for a family I used to nanny for. It’s funny because in college I always dreaded babysitting on the weekends, even though I loved the kids I just wanted to be free! Now that I babysit rarely (instead of multiple times per day) I really really look forward to playing board games, coloring and letting small children climb on me like little monkeys. The past few days have been kids, kids, kids and I’m really loving it! Besides children, what else is on my radar?
On my radar…I completely loved this post about Fall Traditions, I’ve been trying to create some of my own traditions lately and Chelsea’s are too cute! I’ve been encouraging Jordan to celebrate the week leading up to Halloween by giving each other small fall/spooky themed gifts every day for the week. Now I want to adopt Chelsea’s Thanksgiving tradition with her husband too. It’s seriously SO sweet.
The shoe addiction struggle is real…I’m currently coveting these gorgeous over the knee suede boots, this perfect pair of flats for frolicking through the city and these classic bean boots for romping through muddy pumpkin patches and parks. Where is my Fairy Godmother when I need her?
Looking forward to…Helene’s upcoming e-course (Quit Your Job to Blog), a Hallowweekend trip to see my family and party at a castle in California and the Style Up event I’m attending Monday at Pacific Place. I’ve never attended an event as a “blogger” before, I’m nervous and excited for the opportunity! Cross your fingers that I don’t let social anxiety get the best of me!
Hopped on the bandwagon…I’ve been sipping Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I just tried my first PSL this year and I’m addicted. Honestly, nothing can compete with my favorite Peppermint Mocha but I like to be seasonally appropriate so I’m integrating some Pumpkin Spice into the mix. Big news people!!!
Spill it…I’ve been journaling a LOT lately. I love to write super emotive letters (that I never actually send) just to get my feelings out on paper. I’m one of those people that really needs to express emotion, repression is a big no-no for me. I’ve found that sometimes all I need is a solo vent sesh on paper to feel back on track. Do you journal to sort out your feelings?
Seattle is looking familiar…In the summer I always forget why everyone in the world doesn’t just move to Seattle. Summers in Seattle are just about as perfect as perfect can get, the sun is shining, there is sparkly blue water everywhere, flowers are blooming, lush green trees make you feel like you can breathe clean air while still strolling through the city and the temperature is a mild 80 on a hot day. Summers in Seattle are a dream. It’s finally starting to feel like the Fall-Winter hybrid that has made Seattle famous for being so gray and rainy. I’ll be stealing Jordan’s perfect yellow rain jacket any day now!
Turning pages…I started reading “Everybody Rise” because it has received so much press I assumed it had to be interesting. So far I’m not hooked, the story line isn’t bad but I don’t exactly love the main character and the plot line isn’t riveting. I’ll keep you guys posted as I finish!
What’s your current situation like? Give me a snapshot! Have a wonderful weekend my lovelies!
