For the most part I’m a total girly-girl. I embrace delicate jewelry, soft pinks and poofy skirts. I love bows and glitter and always welcome a Parisian twist. However, I live in Seattle and have definitely been influenced by my surroundings! Washington is the birthplace of grunge and I think it is fun to embody some of that grunge culture.
I love dressing a bit grungy every so often. Sunday was so rainy and gray it only felt apropos to channel the weather through my style. Seattle is known for having awful style, I’m sort of biased but I don’t think we’re that bad. If anything, I blame the tech culture more than I blame the grunge influence (not that I’m pointing fingers).
I’ve been toying with bits of grunge since I first discovered Nirvana and black nail polish in 7th grade. Back then I wore safety pins in my pants and dyed my hair bright red with blonde streaks. My acts of “counterculture rebellion” were fairly comical, I now prefer cutesy grunge over my middle school angst!
I was sent this black spaghetti strap cut out dress from an online shop called Zaful. Zaful offers a range of trendy styles at super affordable prices. I love that this little black dress is cotton and breezy! The lightweight cotton is so comfortable I felt like I could have curled up and taken a nap. A little black dress perfect for a lazy Sunday? I’ll take five!
Do you ever throw on a LBD for the day? This dress is a bit scandalous with the cutouts so I wouldn’t necessarily wear it to the office or a church picnic, but I did find it great for an afternoon brunching and frolicking around town with my boyfriend. A woman can never own too many little black dresses, am I right? This particular dress would also be perfect for a night out! I would ditch the flannel and throw on a statement necklace for a sassier and more polished look.
Jordan and I stopped at Bounty Kitchen for a super late brunch. No one was in the restaurant besides us so we took advantage of how adorable and picturesque the spot is with a photo shoot. It was our third time eating at Bounty Kitchen and I swear it is my new favorite spot (for avocado toast and for photo shoots). If you ever find yourself in Seattle I highly recommend this sweet brunch spot!
Did you have any exciting adventures over the weekend? Please share them with me! Do you ever stray from your signature style to something a little different?
***Disclaimer: I was sent my black cutout dress as a gift from Zaful, however all opinions are my own!
