I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor day weekend! Friday afternoon, Jordan, Pierre and I packed up the car and headed to my family’s cabin near Mt.Rainier. The cabin doesn’t have any internet or cell phone reception which is actually sort of amazing as it forces me to unplug and be present. As somewhat of an Instagram (and email) addict I don’t always have the best self restraint when it comes to unplugging from the internet, however when I don’t have a choice, I find that I don’t miss it all that much.
My Grandparents and other members of my extended family all joined us at the cabin for a weekend filled with delicious food, wildlife sightings and games. Most of my family hadn’t met Pierre yet and since he is such a cutie he totally stole the show and demanded everyone’s attention. I swear Pierre thought he was at doggy summer camp, he was able to play with so many dogs, snuggle with everyone and received an endless flow of treats. He’s currently sulking as he adjusts to life back at home. Let’s hope he doesn’t decide to take his puppy angst out on my slippers!
Over the weekend my Mom and her boyfriend (technically fiance) announced the official date for their wedding next summer. I am so happy that my Mom is so in love and I am excited for the wedding next summer. I always get jealous when I see everyone attending bachelorette parties and weddings on Facebook and Instagram because none of my close friends have reached that point yet. I get total wedding envy! Thankfully, I’ll be helping my Mom plan her wedding, pick out her dress, etc, etc. No more fear of missing out for me!
Saturday day we ventured away from the wilderness and into a small town nearby called Packwood. The entire town (which is relatively small to begin with) was shut down for a gigantic “street fair”. Seattle has farmer’s markets and craft fairs all the time…but this fair was insane! Not only did the vendor booths seem to expand on forever but there were so many weird items to be found. There were people selling boxes of used doll heads, old rusty wheels, sticky adult films on VHS and every other weird item you could imagine! Let’s just say there wasn’t too much temptation for this shopaholic (which is actually a good thing).
I did end up picking up the cutest little Batman cape for Pierre. He thinks he’s so cool prancing around as his cape trails behind him. I swear, he’s reached that age where he won’t leave the house without the cape. He even makes me call him “BatDog” in front of his friends.
You may have noticed it is “Tutu Tuesday”and Pierre doesn’t quite fit the dress code. I’m fully into this new aged parenting thing though and I will be sure to offer him both capes and tutus, sparkles and bow ties.
How was your weekend? Did you enjoy the extra day off?
