Today I wanted to share a few glimpses of what happiness means to me. It is by no means an all inclusive list (after all there isn’t a single puppy or mimosa featured) but I think it’s a pretty solid foundation. This photo challenge has been making its way around Blogland and I was so excited when sweet Annaliese tagged me to participate. Annaliese’s blog Southern Belle in Training has quickly become one of my favorite bright & cheery spots to read every day, it helps that Annaliese is not only gorgeous but radiates pure happiness and light. Thanks for the nomination girl!
One| Looking at this photo you can see that I am a bit giddy! This was taken on my first ever road trip with Jordan all through California. On Valentine’s Day we left San Francisco and headed towards Los Angeles (but not before snapping a few pictures with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background). That night was the first time we said “I love you” to each other but perhaps more importantly it was the first time someone has said those words to me and I’ve actually believed them. We’ve had this crazy-fast whirlwind love story but I wouldn’t change a single detail.
Two| This photo makes me smile for a lot of reasons, it was taken at my birthday this year and is with all of my best friends. I was in a really dark place for a little over a month and it was on this night that it really started to turn around. I love all of these girls so much! This night was also the first time I ever met Jordan (though I didn’t talk to him at all).
Three| I know I spend a lot of time talking about my apartment, which seems silly, but the space I’m in now is the first place that has ever really felt like “home” for as long as I can remember. It is such an amazing feeling to have a space I truly feel safe, cozy and creative in. It’s definitely a huge component of my happiness.
Four| This silly photo was taken of my friends and I in high school and is still one of my favorites. Everything about this photo is pure magic! I love the way the sun illuminates the grass, I remember the sound of rustling leaves, the smell of warm summer air. It was a beautiful time with my closest friends. I strive to live every day like it is magical and enchanting (because it is). I never want to fail to see the beauty in the world, I never want to forget the healing power of nature, or the importance of being silly. This photo reminds me of all of those attributes!
Five|This flat lay symbolizes my introverted nature. I definitely need close friends and social interaction but 99% of the time my version of happiness is a night in with a close friend, yummy treats and a glass of champagne.
Six|Swimming with a dolphin has always been a lifelong dream. Last Summer I went to the Bahamas with my family and was finally able to kiss a dolphin, the experience did not disappoint. The other super happy element in this photo is my cousin Genevieve. She is one of my favorite people in the entire world-I seriously could not dream up a better cousin and friend.
Seven| This was taken lounging at a garden in Florence, Italy. Not only was the trip to Italy one of the most enchanting experiences but I am sitting next to my Aunt, one of my favorite people in the entire world. My Aunt is such a loving and generous person, she is smart and independent, and outgoing. I am constantly inspired and supported by her, she really is my role model!
Eight| I spent the last Fall interning at a large seafood company in Nova Scotia, Canada. It was such an impactful and amazing experience. I loved living with my cousin, I loved experiencing a new city and I loved my internship and the experience I gained. I had recently ended a really really bad relationship and a season living in Canada was exactly what I needed to refresh my mind and move forward. I am so grateful for the experience!
What do you think of the photos I chose? How do they differ from what happiness means for you? I’d love to hear about your definition of happiness, and since I am bad at any sort of nomination task in the blogging world (sorry-I suck) I want to nominate you to participate! Share your eight happy photos!
