Tuesday evening Jordan and I headed over to West Seattle to pick up some of our favorite macarons (in honor of Bastille day, obviously) and a little “do it yourself” carwash. I have a confession to make guys I never wash or clean my car. I know, I am clearly disgusting and consequently Jordan won’t even ride in my car. I swear I’m not a super grimy person but for some reason cleaning my car (inside or outside) is never a chore I make time for.
Jordan on the other hand is an anal car cleaner. He will not leave anything in his cars and must hand wash or go through an automated carwash at least twice a week. I find it a little frivolous really and usually sit in the car pouting and scrolling through instagram while he does all the manual labor or I dance around to music outside as a source of entertainment while he gets all soapy but this time I decided to help…sort of.
I’m guilty of trying to turn the silliest moments in life into photo shoots (see also that time I made Jordan take fifty photos of me pumping gas). I think my crazy glam-ing up ordinary life events has become more acceptable since instagram became popular but I’ve been shamelessly posing in grocery stores and gas stations and random fields since I was 16. It’s a lifestyle (or a character flaw, you decide).
As silly as it sounds turning the carwash into a photoshoot opportunity was actually a lot of fun. I’m sure we looked like total narcissistic weirdos but we were singing and laughing and skipping around having a good time so it really didn’t matter. I do have to admit that the carwash took substantially more time and therefore more money than the times when I sit in the car scrolling through instagram. I guess I’m a bit of a distraction at the carwash, oops!
I live for those spontaneous little moments that end up being so memorable. Of course when we set out to wash the car I had no intention of having so much fun but it really turned out to be this sweet, silly little memory. It is so important to find joy in the little “meaningless” moments of life don’t you think? We might have looked like total dorks but in my mind it’s crucial that your best friend is someone you are able to be hyper and weird with. Jordan’s the weirdest creature I’ve ever met, I think I’ll keep him (:
How has your week been so far? Have any magical little moments to share?
