As some of you may know I started a new job on Monday. Since the position is with a smaller company I have the opportunity to wear a lot of hats (so to speak) and will be working as both a content writer as well as in social media marketing. I’ve been spending the week saturating myself with new tech-y knowledge (yay for learning new things) while spending time with my family in town from California and Jordan’s family at night. Wednesday night I went to a Sheryl Crow concert at a local winery and last night I enjoyed a 9 course meal at HerbFarm. Meanwhile, sweet Hennie, an exchange student from Germany who is traveling with my Aunt and Uncle has been staying with Jordan and I. It’s been a great first week but naturally between my new schedule and visiting relatives I’ve haven’t found much time for blogging. It’s funny how much I find myself missing this space after just missing a day or two off of my usual schedule. At this point in my life I can’t ever imagine falling out of love with blogging, it’s really such a unique platform. As for adjusting to new routines and spaces and unfamiliar faces-I’m so reliant on planning and scheduling, it always takes me a week or two to really adjust to a new schedule so that it feels normal. I need to adjust to which Starbucks I will stop at each morning, where I will eat lunch, what time I will get home from work…how often I will need to get gas. I’m such a creature of habit I’m so many ways!
Today I am sharing my wardrobe from my first week at my new office. It is a VERY casual work environment in the sense that there really isn’t a dress code. I’m pretty sure I could wear Nike running shorts and a t-shirt if I really wanted to and I’m definitely going to take advantage of the lax dress code with jeans and riding boots this fall but I like to dress up a little. I find that waking up each morning and pulling together an outfit and doing my hair puts me in a productivity mode (venti mochas from Starbucks also do the trick).
Please disregard how awkward I look in all these photos! In the future I will give myself more time so I don’t look like a weirdo who has never posed for a picture before (;
How do you like to dress for work? Does your workplace have a strict dress code? How do you allow your personal style to shine through?
