After a lovely weekend filled with hiking, tennis, dinner with friends and a gender reveal party I am nowhere near ready for the week to begin. It is completely mind boggling that it is already June. Where on earth does time go? This year June is an especially chaotic month between graduations, friends & family visiting from out of town and the beginning of my grad school program I have no reason to believe June won’t fly by even faster than May!
I haven’t shared my goals here for awhile but I thought it would give me a bit of extra motivation for the month if I have you guys to hold me accountable. Goals are just so much more achievable when placed into writing. That being said-most of my goals for the next 30 days are pretty fun and not entirely serious but serve as an outline for my month. I love feeling productive even with my “happy time” and I think the goals I have aligned will allow me to feel happy and fulfilled with the the month of June should I complete them.
1. Run 2 races!
My New Year’s resolution is to run 12 races over the year and so far I’ve run 3. I’m a little behind the “one a month” schedule but I’m not too worried as there are more fun races offered in the summer and fall. I’ve already signed up for one race this month and I am hoping to check another off my list.
2. Organize finances for school.
This is a super boring goal so I won’t go into too much detail. I’m starting my graduate program mid month and I still don’t have all of my loans/financial aid figured out (eek I’m a mess). I know I need to sort out all the paperwork asap!
3. Go on a hike I have never been on before.
I am rarely adventurous when I initiate a hike, not because I dislike new trails but because I love the ones I have experiences so much I am afraid another spot won’t measure up. There are so many lovely spots to explore in Washington I would love to try a hike I have never been on before.
4. Find the perfect graduation gift for my bestie!
My best friend is graduating college this month and I want a cute (yet sentimental) gift to celebrate her accomplishments. The only problem is I’m not sure what the gift should be…any suggestions?
5. Buy a hammock for the patio.
My apartment has quite a nice little outdoor space. I’ve been slowly putting together the patio by planting vegetables in cute little pots and setting up an outdoor dining table. I think a hammock would complete the look and offer a great space to lay in the sun and read (or cuddle) on warm summer days. I really want to get one this month so I’ll be able to enjoy it during the best weather Seattle has to offer.
6. Complete my own Instagram challenge!!!
I’ve participated in instagram photo challenges in the past and while I’ve always been fairly active on social media I usually miss a day or two. While I think 28/30 days is pretty astounding for a participant I know I really have to step it up and post every day since I am co-hosting the challenge. I’m excited to find beautiful photo inspiration every day this month #JadoreJune.
7. Host a party.
Since moving in to my new place I have been anxious to hold a small get together for a few of my close friends. I can’t decide whether to host a Hampton’s themed brunch party, a game night or something different all together. Any ideas?
8. Finish decorating our bedroom.
Right now my bedroom is the least complete room in the entire house. I want to keep the room fairly uncluttered and neutral but I would like to add a few decorations to the wall an atop the dressers. With an entire month to focus, I think I can finish and have a beautiful, cozy little space.
9. Send a thoughtful card or letter.
I love sending and receiving mail, especially to my far away friends. It is easy to take 5 minutes and scrawl out a quick note or postcard but I would like to take the time to thoughtfully write something heart felt which for me can take awhile as it requires so much focus.
10. Play tennis 5 times!
5 is such an arbitrary number and really doesn’t mean much here (I just like my goals to be specific and measurable). For awhile now I have been wanting to really learn how to play tennis since so many of my friends and family members enjoy it. I have horrid hand-eye coordination but Jordan and I played yesterday and I had the BEST time. I’m not hoping to be the next tennis pro by any means but it would be nice to dedicate some time to really learning and improving my hand-eye coordination a bit so I can enjoy the game without completely humiliating myself.
Do you have any goals for the month of June? Do you have any tips for helping me achieve mine?
