Friday was my close friend Kaila’s 23rd birthday. Kaila is one of those people who is just overflowing with love; she sees the beauty in everybody and the silver lining of every situation. I find positive people who radiate life infectious and over the past few months Kaila has become one of my best friends-she’s such a ray of sunshine!
For Kaila’s birthday party a bunch of us girls (& Jordan, hehe) all wanted to go out and dance. In January we celebrated my birthday at a prohibition themed club called Aston Manor. When looking into birthday party destinations we discovered the night of Kaila’s birthday the club was having a cabaret which created the perfect atmosphere for Kaila’s girls’ night (& Jordan) party. Coincidentally the majority of the girls were ultra blonde (I consider myself blonde but felt brunette next to all the girls with platinum hair) so I like to say the theme of the party was “Blondes have more Fun“. I’ll have to check with Nicole and Hannah (the token red-head and brunette) to see how they enjoyed the party. I like to think they still had a pretty good time!
The evening was filled with champagne, cheesecake, dancing and lots of confetti. Apparently Blink 182 has taught us all that “nobody likes you when you’re 23” but so far I’ve experienced just the opposite. 22 was a difficult year for me (though I loved dancing to Taylor’s theme song). So far 23 has been filled with unexpected new experiences, adventure and all kinds of glorious love. I wish a lot of beautiful things for Kaila. I want her to find true love, I want her to achieve her goals (she’s going to school to be a counselor), I want her to travel the world and see extraordinary views and meet fabulous people. If 23 is as good to her as it has been to me she’ll be beaming even more radiantly than she already is (if that is even possible).
I just love birthdays! I don’t care how old I’m turning I want to always use my birthday (or a friend’s birthday) as an excuse to sip bubbly and throw on the most glittery dress in my closet. Tossing confetti and dancing on tables is optional but always recommended.
How was your weekend? Did you celebrate or relax?
P.S. Was anyone else sort of mad Taylor didn’t invite them to be part of the Bad Blood music video?
