I remember looking forward to “Back to School Shopping” ever since I was a little girl. At age 7 I would try on all my new clothes in every possible outfit combination and make my entire family watch as I performed my back to school fashion show in the living room. I then proceeded to organize the outfits I would wear for the first month of school hanging outfits in a perfectly ordered and accessorized manner in my bedroom closet. I clearly took back to school a little too seriously but if I had the opportunity to do it all over again I can’t say I’d handle it any differently. The truth is new clothes are just a lot of fun.
This weekend on my beach getaway I was able to play dress up with some really pretty pieces from my friend Danielle’s boutique Danie Styles. I am so impressed by Danielle’s talent and drive! Isn’t it every girl’s dream to own her own boutique? Danielle’s living it!<3
From one shopaholic to another I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite places to shop (besides my friend Danielle’s boutique of course). Let me know if you love any of the same places or if not where you find your favorite pieces, I always love discovering new shops filled with pretty clothes!
1. Brandy Melville-
After discovering Brandy Melville I quickly became obsessed with the simplistic beachy styles at super affordable prices. One of the women I nannied for actually recommended the brand to me because she thought it would fit the aesthetic I liked…she was right! To be honest the quality isn’t amazing but at the price point you can’t really beat it. I have so many Brandy Melville pieces and never feel like I look cheap when I’m wearing them. I’m currently lusting after this flowy burgundy dress, this “But First Coffee” graphic tee and this super sassy beanie. The brand has sort of a younger vibe but I feel like many of the pieces can be dressed up more maturely as well (maybe not the “you can’t sit with us beanie”).
I will forever be obsessed with Modcloth’s ultra feminine dresses and retro vibe. A long time ago I got in some serious trouble with a credit card thanks to Modcloth (and my lust for sparkly dresses) but the bad memories still haven’t tainted the brand. I could spent thousands of dollars on a single transaction I never have an issue finding dresses that I love! Whenever I wear pieces from Modcloth I receive just about a zillion compliments, I swear every single dress makes me drool. I want EVERYTHING but if I had to choose I would pick this dress with ice cream on it (#BeStillMyHeart), this magical little genus frock and this slightly formal perfect garden tea party piece. Not to mention all of the accessories are SERIOUSLY adorably quirky and fun.
It’s not possible that you haven’t heard of Lululemon. I don’t think I am sharing some sort of hidden gem here by any means but I wouldn’t be being truthful if I didn’t list the athletic wear company in my favorite places to shop. As a nanny I lay on the floor with babies all day long so I spend more time than I care to admit in yoga pants/workout apparel. Lululemon Wunder Unders blow away the competition when it comes to leggings and I am so drawn to Lululemon workout tops for running, yoga, barre and any other athletic activity I participate in. I own way more Lululemon than I’m ever going to need (but I still want more). Please feel free to compile a care package with this cute tee, these perfect running shorts and this cozy half zip (I love thumb holes) pretty please!!!
4. Free People-
I think I mention Free People more than any other brand. I have loved Free People since I was a high school hippie running around barefoot with dreads in my hair and henna on my hands. Over the years I’ve bought my fair share of Free People pieces and I have never been disappointed. Sadly I can’t afford to buy everything Free People (even though I want it all) but I have found that the pieces I do splurge on are always worth it. Right now I am swooning over this embroidered tank, these boots from a daydream and this blue and white romper. Please let me be a hippie flower child all spring and summer long!
When I think of the department store that has everything I always think of Nordstrom. When I’m bored I always find myself sub consciously browsing through the Nordstrom women’s shoes online (craving these wedges and these heels). I’m also a little Tory Burch obsessed and make pretty much all of my Tory purchases from Nordstrom. With new spring and summer bags popping up everywhere I want to add something sunny to my collection (gingham makes my heart pitter patter). Oh and of course a Tory Burch wrap watch is on my “someday when I’m not poor and struggling to sustain my coffee addiction” wish list. Nordstrom is an adult toy store I swear! One of my dreams is to work at Nordstrom after grad school (or intern there during). It’s quite possibly my favorite Seattle company (tied with Starbs obviously).
Speaking of Nordstrom I’ve teamed up with a fabulous group of bloggers to giveaway $300 to Nordstrom. I’m totes jelly of the winner already! Enter away and let me know what you would splurge on if you won.
