I’ve never really placed that much emphasis on New Years’s Eve. While I embrace any opportunity to sip champagne in glittery dresses the new year has never been a substantial holiday. This year was an exception to my usual laid back New Year’s Eve festivities, instead of sipping champagne at home with my family and playing Hearts until midnight I attended the most beautiful ball.
After my lovely experience with Rent The Runway for my last ball I chose to use the service again (as did Genevieve). Initially Genevieve disliked the first dress she ordered, it just wasn’t what she expected. However Rent the Runway really came through…she called the next day to ask for another dress and Rent the Runway express shipped it to her (free of charge) right away. Genevieve is the most sparkly radiant princess so she would have looked beautiful in anything but I have to say her second dress made her the most glittery girl at the ball! Prior to the ball we spent the whole day getting ready. My all time favorite activity is getting ready for fancy events, I think in the end I actually enjoy it more than the events themselves. Any excuse to get a makeover at Sephora pretty please!
The ball itself was a beautiful dream. The event was held at the Castello di Amorosa, a venue that is somehow even more whimsically lovely than the name implies. I’ve been lucky enough to attend several parties (Midsummer Night’s Dream/Pagan Ball) at the castle and each one has been even better than the last! I can become really sick of the whole go out and get plastered bar scene really quickly and I was so excited to spend the evening at such an elegant (but FUN) event. There was champagne and a dance floor so really I didn’t need much more to be content.
To be honest the evening ended on a less than ideal note. My phone was lost (temporarily thanks to the “find my iphone” feature), there were tears…it was dramatic but the majority of the evening was so beautiful I want to remember it in a favorable light. 2014 was the year of tears…2015, can it just not be?!
Now I’m back in Seattle and full fledged head-first into my new life. New apartment! New job! New perspective on the whole boyfriend scenario (at least I keep repeating that to myself). Tell me all about your New Year’s Eve! Was it everything you dreamed and more?
