Fearless, a word no one would ever use to describe me, yet a word I idolize as I aim to embody it more and more each day. I get woozy walking up grated stairs, I hate being home alone, I don’t appreciate it when people even mention the word “alien” and my heart is as icy cold as Arendelle when Queen Elsa “Let it Go” and froze the whole place. “Fearful” is a better way to describe me yet I continue to push myself to conquer my fears each day. I am terrified of letting my fears hold me back from living a wonderfully exciting and fulfilling life (ironically) thus I’ve come to value fearlessness. When Princess Whitney first showed me her newest IWYP design I freaked. I think we all know the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word “Fearless” even before Whitney’s beautiful tattoo (which this shirt is modeled after obviously), and it’s my other favorite blonde, Taylor. Yeah, we talk about her around here…sometimes.
What does being “Fearless” mean to me? Well, the literal definition means without fear which I can never claim to be. However I think being fearless goes deeper, I think being fearless is understanding your fears and refusing to let them limit or define you. I think living fearlessly means chasing the things you want in spite of your fears. Being fearless doesn’t always mean swimming with sharks or skydiving or swallowing swords…I think there are acts of fearlessness in everyday life.
Here is what being “Fearless” means to me:
+Moving across the continent without the vaguest idea who you will talk to, where you will really live or how successful you will be at your job because it’s an opportunity.
+Watching Pretty Little Liars because you are just THAT determined to find out who “A” is even though you know it means nightmares for days and a serious stalker paranoia for the rest of your life.
+ Admitting when you are wrong, when you’re hurt, when you’re upset and asking for help if you need it.
+ Catching your own spiders and because you don’t have the nerve to kill them throwing them in your trunk and resolving to just “deal with that later”.
+Falling head over heels in love despite all the pain you’ve gone through before.
+Following your head even when you really want to follow your heart…or occasionally following your heart even though your head screams “You’re crazy”!
+Being the first to plunge into the ice cold water, to snorkel with sting rays, to volunteer to give a speech in class.
+Wearing your heart on your sleeve despite the risk of rejection.
+ Standing up for what you believe in, even if you’re standing alone.
+Wearing white and continuing to drink iced mochas the entire day. Stains?! I’m above the laws of physics.
+ Recognizing your flaws but walking confidently anyways.
+Riding in a car with my best friend Nicole who apparently believes you aren’t driving properly if you aren’t on the edge of death at all times.
+Chasing your craziest most unattainable dream because you miss all the shots you don’t take right?!
****Fearless tank c/o IWYP, order yours here before Wednesday! After Wednesday these adorable tanks are gone never to return! I have at least 5 of Whitney’s fabulous designs and I am in love with every single one of them. Plus owning one of these exclusive IWYP designs is sort of like being part of an elite blogger sorority. Whitney never said that per se but I mean it’s pretty much true.***
What do you think it means to be Fearless? What are you most afraid of (rationally or irrationally)? Have you ever conquered one of your fears? I want to hear all about it!
Live your life head first, fearless <3
