In honor of National Best Friend Day (which I think was yesterday according to instagram) I wanted to honor my two best friends in the whole wide world, and of course by honor I mean humiliate by reposting our embarrassing video on the internet. I think this video describes my relationship with my best friends quite accurately as it depicts our off the wall weirdness.
We created this video on my 20th Birthday. I can’t tell you how much time we spent choreographing this dance…or how many times we filmed it before we got the “perfect take”.
You are the closest thing I have ever had to a sister. From making up our own languages on the playground in 6th grade, to filling toilets with ice cubes, to our skater phase in which we told people to call us “Fire” and “Ice”. I’ve never met anyone weirder or quirkier or crazier than you, and I mean that as the ultimate compliment. I admire your sense of adventure and optimism, your strength and your amazingly caring heart. No matter where you are in the world you will always have a special piece of my heart. I am dreading the thought of you moving away to Tennessee but am so proud of you chasing your dreams and changing the world the way I always knew you would. I’m only me when I’m with you.
From the moment I saw your freckled face from across the gym at cheer tryouts I knew you were meant to be part of my life. Whatever it is that souls are made of, I am quite certain yours and mine are the same. I love having you as my twin/partner in crime/baby dragon sister. I think we are best friends because no one else could possibly handle our crazy narcissism combined with our socially awkward tendencies. But in actuality you are the most refreshingly kind and genuinely beautiful person I’ve ever met, and I’m not just saying that because you memorize my pee schedule or would be the first to notice I went missing if I were ever to be kidnapped. You are the best friend that’s ever been mine!
I’d say “Don’t Judge Me” based on the video I just shared with you, although to be fair and completely realistic I know withholding judgement is entirely unrealistic given the circumstances and I’m pretty okay with that. If you can’t unleash your inner crazy person with your best friends than what’s even the point of living anymore?! Even though National Best Friend day is technically over I think it’s a great reminded to celebrate the wonderful people in our lives who have loved and supported us no matter what.
What would you like to thank your best friend for?
