Since accepting my internship with Girls’ Life magazine this summer, I have been day dreaming about a new work appropriate wardrobe. Fortunately an internship with a teen magazine offers a fairly flexible office uniform (aka I’m allowed to wear jeans), however I still want to look fashionable as I attempt to live out my Carrie Bradshaw dreams. Much like our good friend Carrie, I like to live by the motto “I like my money where I can see it…in my closet”, but unfortunately, living on a student intern and nanny salary doesn’t provide much room for splurging on Manolo&Valentino (a girl can dream though right?). I’ve compiled a few of my favorite work appropriate (well, teen fashion work appropriate) shoes, and the less expensive versions! Of course, I believe a good pair of heels is essential for happy feet (I learned my lesson and will NEVER wear heels from Forever 21 again #BlistersForDays) however it’s not always realistic to spring for the $800 Valentino rockstuds (unfortunately).
Cinderella taught us a valuable lesson, and it’s not about Prince Charming or true love but rather that the perfect shoes makes all the difference! Now my real task is to learn to properly walk in heels (you know…without channeling a newborn deer) so I can justify a new heel collection. Any tips to avoid falling flat on my face? Have you found the perfect inexpensive AND comfortable heels? It doesn’t help that I’m slightly pigeon toed…awkward for life.
P.S. It’s only the second day of the quarter and I’m already overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted…it’s going to be a crazy few months! Eek!
