Was it really a
four day five day weekend?! Each day went by so fast I feel like it couldn’t have even been a regular old weekend, someone is pulling some weird time warp pranks around here and I’m totally not amused. But seriously. Is it really time to go back to real life, finals and projects and papers and all?
1226 Washington, my family’s new restaurant in Calistoga opened it’s doors for the first time on November 29th. Needless to say we spent as much time as possible around the restaurant whether we were helping out (I got to play hostess Friday and Saturday night), hanging out (mainly in the bar and garden doing homework and spending time with family) or attempting to sample all of the delicious food (I still somehow escaped without trying the challah bread french toast…how did that happen??) we were constantly at 1226 Washington (it’s the name and the address so we were literally right there)!
I did actually run across the street to the cutest little salon and pampered myself with a manicure, pedicure and a facial. I was pretty spoiled and quite happy. Winter has my skin feeling completely dry and broken out and awful, not to mention my never ending cold…my skin has been FREAKING OUT. I can’t even express how wonderfully amazing it felt to have someone deep cleaning, massaging and rejuvenating my face. Where do I sign up to do it again…today???
And then there was the dreaded trip back to Seattle. Since every normal person hates the airport, and traveling with young children can be a little bit…hectic, Jefferson and I made the responsible decision to spend approximately $50 on candy to hype the four of us (Jeff, my two brothers and I) up on sugar for the trip home. There’s nothing wrong with a little sugar high right?! Plus I’m trying to earn my spot as favorite siblingP with my six year old brother Dylan. Since I know nothing about video games or superheroes, I have to bribe him with candy and ice cream to get him to like me. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
In other news, my heart is already longing for California again. I am in love with Napa Valley. I am in love with San Francisco. I am in love with Los Angeles and Malibu and La Jolla. Take me anywhere in California and I’ll probably fall in love with it too. California is calling my name. But then again I really just love Seattle. How can I live in both places at one time? My heart is torn!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!
