I gave myself a long weekend meaning I had every intention of blogging this morning before nannying but instead found myself cuddling my puppy and watching America’s Next Top Model. I sort of had plans to make this weekend ULTRA SUPER PRODUCTIVE since Jefferson was gone and I figured it would be a great time to really get ahead of the game but alas…here I am Monday night still procrastinating reading a book that I am supposed to have finished by 12:50 tomorrow…so was this weekend productive? I’ll let you be the judge.
All of Friday day is really sort of a blur. I slept in (I think), I went to class, I drank two venti peppermint mochas in Holiday cups, I watched 4 or 7 episodes of America’s Next Top Model…I’m not really sure what all went down. I think Boo was slipping me something because up until 6:30pm it’s all somehow slipped my memory…oops. Around 7:00 I left to meet some friends to see the new Thor movie. At this point I would have been perfectly content to stay in my underwear in bed all night and eat cookie dough but I didn’t want Boo to tell Jeff that all I did was watch reality tv the whole time he was gone so I made it my goal to be social.
“La La La” I thought in my cute little blonde head, I arrived at the movie theater, parked my car, sauntered in like I owned the place and showed the ticket scanner lady my e-ticket on my phone. I really thought I was so suave, look at me I bought my ticket on fandango, I don’t even need to stand in that atrocious line at the box office, sorry bout it losers. Well, turns out I bought my ticket for the wrong day. Guest services politely informed they could give me a new ticket since I was such an idiot. GREAT! But not for Friday night because the Friday night showings for Thor were all sold out. For God’s sake these Guest services people were under the impression that I actually wanted to see the dumb movie. I never even saw Thor 1! A girl like me has absolutely zero interest in seeing Thor, a girl like me has absolutely zero interest in seeing any movie at the movie theater 99.999999% of the time. So I cut my losses and retreated back to my bed. Luckily, good old Nicole invited me out with her after the movie so the night wasn’t a complete waste of hair spray.
It was a late night filled with dancing on couches to old Hannah Montana songs.
The next morning I needed brunch. Brunch happened, a run happened, and an hour of watching vines on youtube and eating warm freshly baked cookies happened, all was good in the world.
After what appeared to be a very eventful Saturday, Sunday really had a way of sneaking up on me. Much like Saturday, it was very productive. I met a friend for coffee and girl talk and shopping. I then completed season 20 of America’s Next Top Model, learned roughly 3 new GRE words, and found myself falling asleep to Toddlers and Tiaras.
Monday, ugh. Even though there wasn’t school I still had to force myself out of bed to go care for little baby children. I spilled coffee on my jeans the minute I walked out the front door of my apartment. My lips were chapped. The sun was shining (unheard of in November) and the babies played Seattle-opoly and drank frappucinos with me. It was a good day.
I think I’m going to tell Jeff I had a productive weekend and he should go away more often. What do you think?
How did you spend your extra day off (if you had one?)
P.S. Thank you for your tips on valuing alone time…I definitely still need a little more work.
