Marie Antoinette is remembered for her quote “Let them Eat Cake” despite the fact that most historians agree she didn’t actually say that at all. In honor of the 240th anniversary of the french Queen’s death (as of yesterday), I thought I would post some outfit inspiration based on her iconic aristocratic style. Even though most of us will never be royals (thanks for reminding us Lorde), we can still find inspiration in her royal highness’ classic feminine wardrobe.
I’m sort of obsessed with the French Revolution, and whenever anyone brings it up I get sort of giddy.I’m also obsessed with pink/gold and sparkly all year round. I know these soft feminine pieces don’t exactly scream “Fall” but it is sort of our duty as students of history to honor the fashionable legacy of Marie on the day of her death non? I think it’s what Marie would want.
Have a wonderful day my little aristocratic fashionistas!
