Happy Sunday my pretty little Pumpkins! I know I could technically begin a blog post without a formal greeting or silly pet name but something about that just seems wrong. Blogs are sort of like letters right? I mean I always sign my name at then end, as if whoever is reading this couldn’t tell I was writing by the massive amount of selfies. It seems a bit presumptuous to start typing away without really saying “hello” but…on the other hand, I guess it doesn’t get much more presumptuous than claiming an entire corner of the internet to just talk about yourself…so, there’s that.
This week I was reintroduced to the land of academia and I’m sure you’ve noticed, it’s really all I can talk about now. Libraries and coffee and bright orange leaves and backpacks…these all go hand in hand right? (not to mention all of the ADORABLE new Kate Spade desk supplies and “nerdy chic” line…add it all to my wish list)!!! Yet, I know just listening to me ramble on and on about late night study sessions and massive amounts of reading can’t really be that entertaining…if anything will have you begging for more posts filled with summer selfies it is posts filled with instagram photos of Starbucks cups and libraries…although you have to admit, this library is pretty much amazing.
I always beg pretty little N to take me to this library, although I guess to be honest I don’t really have to do too much begging because she’s a neuroscience major which makes my weekly to do list look like that of a first grader, but still, it’s the ONLY place I want to study. Sometimes someplace seems so stereotypically perfect for a situation that you just HAVE to take advantage of it. This library is the most cliche grand study hall, how can I go through college without making study memories here you know?!
I feel the same way about blogging in coffee shops. Blogs were meant to be written with coffee art staring at you, and the happy chatter of friends catching up and the sound of all the important people typing away on their computers all around. Whenever I’m working at a coffee shop I can’t help but wonder what all of the people around me are working on. Are they secretly bloggers too? Are they putting together powerpoint presentations for their next big work meeting, or editing photos for the glossy pages of the Nordstrom catalogue or writing the next great children’s novel. Maybe I’ve sat beside the next Ernest Hemingway (or Dan Humphrey) while sipping green tea and listening to Taylor’s “All too Well” on repeat. And then after all of this wondering I start to wonder what all the other little typers think of me. Do they think I’m an important business woman working on important business work…probably not since I’m wearing ugg boots and carrying a flowery backpack. Are they laughing to themselves as I take pictures of my coffee and/or the library and/or myself…probably.
After an exhilarating weekend of babysitting my three little sugarplum princesses overnight (see also: chaos), and an uncoordinated attempt at frisbee by Green lake (with Jeff, Nicole, her man and a guy named Jack) I am ready for a relaxing Sunday catching up on homework (and blogging and possibly a really really late brunch).
What has been on your mind lately? I can’t help be feel immensely overwhelmed yet a great sense of serenity all at the same time…I know that doesn’t make any sense but isn’t that sort of the point? This blog is officially at 675 words which means I’ve already written 75 words more than the minimum for the mini reflection paper I have due tomorrow…suddenly it seems so much less daunting. If only everything could be as easy as writing about myself.
