You guys, my weekend in Los Angeles was amazing, I think I’m in love with the whole area even if the traffic is a bit miserable. I’m talking non stop happiness and laughing, I’m talking I actually did my hair everyday (miracle) and slept in until 11:30 one day and my calves are still sore from running around in the sand on the beach. I think I’m meant to live in L.A., I really do.
I arrived Friday morning and honestly I was pretty exhausted from my early flight, luckily I was able to count on Vanessa (also known as my incredible Big) being sleepy too soo we were able to eat yummy pastries in bed and catch up for a couple hours before heading to Hollywood to check it out. That night we shared a bottle of my favorite champagne, mimosa style and were fast asleep by 11:30pm…well I was at least.
Saturday we woke up bright and…err…moderately early to check out the sites. We hiked around my Mulholland drive, which I realize just sounds like we walked alongside of the famous dangerous road but we actually explored on a trail so it was cooler than it sounds. Then we went to a really cool outdoor mall, and I drooled over all of the pretty clothes I definitely couldn’t afford and really really drooled over the outdoor chandelier. I wish we had an outdoor chandelier in Seattle. Luckily I ate a few pieces of pizza which always makes sad me feel better. After the shopping adventure we ate more, this time it was cheese tortellini with Alfredo sauce, which if you know anything about the rules of the universe , is delicious enough to turn a bad day good. Since the day hadn’t been bad at all it became even more wonderful. After the yummy tortellini we went out in Beverly Hills for Vanessa’s roommates birthday. Since the bar was in Beverly Hills of course all I could think of was that Weezer song the whole time even though I didn’t meet any celebrities.
Sunday proved to live up to its reputation as funday which was pretty okay in my book. After sleeping in past 11:30am which I actually thought was physically impossible for me we spent the day at Venice beach. Coincidentally Venice actually has canals, much like the Venice in Italy except not really big and the city isn’t sinking. Who would have known?!
The beach was beautiful and the whole day was just like a fairytale dream, and it wasn’t just because of the buy one get one free mimosas at the restraunt, although I’m sure those didn’t hurt. The sun, the sand, the water, the people, it was all wonderful and happy and perfect. It was a great way to ring in fall, I was enchanted by every moment!
Then there was Monday, which unlike it’s counterpart, Sunday, is not my idea of fun, this Monday was DEFINITELY an exception. One word…Disneyland! Vanessa and I spent all day in the happiest place on earth! It was decked out for Halloween and the lines were super short and it was just magical and perfect. We were both trying to be on a tight disney budget so we only went to one park (aka just Disney not California adventure) but as a result we were really relaxed and not rushed at all (we rode space mountain three times which is just the way I like it)!
When my alarm went off at 3:30am Tuesday morning I could have burst into tears, but I didn’t because I knew I had to be strong for Vanessa. I would have been just fine moving in with Vanessa right then and there but…school…and the fact that there isn’t enough closet space for both of our clothes (that’s the real reason). I was only truly able to make myself leave because Vanessa had a callback for an audition that day and I knew that she had to move on with her life and I figured a real adult would take that as a sign that they should move onto bigger and better things too. I’m thinking now would be a good time for me to graduate so I can move to L.A. Permanently, not that I don’t love seattle because I do, I’m just up for an adventure after living in washington my whole life.
If you chose to skim over all of my crazy rambling, just know my weekend was FABULOUS! It was so great to see my Big and I already want to be back on the sunshiney beach in Venice. Seattle seems to have changed from Summer weather to November weather during the few days I was gone, so now I am in complete back to school mode. Nothing says studying and comfort food (all I’ve eaten today is macaroni and cheese and quesadillas) and peppermint mochas (because pumpkin spice is bleh) like cold rainy days.
