I think I’ve made it pretty obvious that the only thing I can think about lately is my future apartment, and guess what I think I actually found one! Along with a new apartment comes a new chance to decorate and organize. Right now my current apartment now is a war zone, I mean I’m serious it’s a crazy disaster and it’s driving me insane. After work today I was pumped to come home and just clean and organize the entire place, get a head start on packing or whatever because the truth is for the past month I’ve sort of been boycotting cleaning it under the assumption that I will be moving with a brand new fresh start. I’m talking dirty dishes piled high in the sink, enough laundry to keep me busy for days not just hours and past explosions of glitter, hot glue, weekend trip bags and makeup have left my corner of the studio looking…repulsive (although Jeff’s side is no magical princess castle either). I am so inspired by the idea of a fresh start. (And the Pinterest home decor section is always a major inspiration as well…)
I’ve been trying to constrain my decorating ideas to to my own future bedroom as opposed to the entire apartment…I mean I can definitely bully Jeff into accepting the idea of living in a princess castle…but I’m working hard not to bully my future roomies. Ugh being nice is so hard.
I usually loathe pinterest themed blog posts because I’m thoroughly convinced that they are cheesy and uninspired (and unoriginal) but today I’m going to make an exception because today all I want to talk about is my decoration inspiration for my new apartment/dream home.
Okay, okay…I know this beautiful vintage-y bed is a huge stretch because well first of all I have a black low rider bed from ikea and two, beautiful sparkling fancy chandeliers are both hard to install and would cost more than I make nannying in a month, oh and third, I’ll be living in a regular apartment, not in an attic so the beams and floor will just be plain old wood not fancy and shabby chic. But the point is I’m in love with white on white (white canopy, white pillowcases, white sheets, white accents on the nightstand). And the tea set on the night stand, it’s too cute, I’m dying.
Okay, next order of business….I need a cozy little study nook and since the living room is likely to be loud at times (movies, talking, etc), I think I’ll have to set aside a place for this area in my room. In my fantasy dream life my desk would be a slightly more modern take on this one because I need room for a laptop and printer and a few picture frames up on that shelf thingy-mabobber. But I am LOVING the antique distressed turquoise, the white desk organizer, and the doily. Too perfect.
This bathroom is perfect, well, almost. I love the colors, I love the bathtub and I love all of the decorations everywhere. I want this exact bathroom except all the pictures and little cute knick knacks to be mermaid themed. Not in a creepy collecter-ish way though, because there won’t just be mermaids, there will be unicorns and fairies and flowers too.
Despite all of my fabulous decorating ideas…I’m on a tight budget. My eyes are MUCH MUCH bigger than my wallet so I’ll have to find a few cute accents on etsy or maybe at Target (who isn’t in love with their home section?)
My Current Wish List:
Jeff told me that it can’t be all pink and cluttered so I’m aiming for primarily aqua/tiffany’s blue-ish and white with hints of pink here and there (sort of like this blog). As for cluttered…you can take the girl out of the sorority but you can’t take the sorority out of the girl. I love hanging pictures in every space imaginable and try as I might to change this I can’t help but feel happy when I have glimpses of happy memories all over throughout my apartment…even if it does look like a sorority house.
Does anyone have any tips about decorating on a budget? I’d love to add some cute girly accents to my new bedroom. My overall theme is fairytale, but in a more grown up way than just hanging Disney Princess posters everywhere and calling it a day you know? I would love any and all suggestions!
