You’ve gotta get with my friends. I think we can all agree that the Spice Girls taught us some very valuable lessons, in my mind they’ve always exemplified valuing your friendships. This weekend was filled with friendship and food (my two favorite things).
On Friday night Jeff and I decided to have a little dinner party with some of our favorite friends. It was great because I was house sitting and my boss actually suggested I have my friends over for a dinner party (I think this goes to show you how cool they are and also how wonderful and trustworthy I am as a person) so we were able to use a big pretty house instead of our teeny tiny apartment. Since it is my friend L’s birthday next week I decided that we might as well make it a mini birthday celebration/dinner party/princess dress up theme. I love a good theme.
I was all about making our dinner party as classy and grown up as possible which meant buying flowers for the table and a real cake from a bakery and compiling a playlist with musicians other than Britney and Ke$ha. I decided Italian music would be classiest but eventually that just morphed into creating a playlist with every song I could think of that wasn’t in English because for some reason listening to “99 Luftballoons” is classier than listening to “99 Red Balloons”.
After dinner things became a little more celebratory and eventually the Spice Girls/Britney Spears/N’SYNC playlist inevitably replaced my classy foreign set list.
Then bright and early Saturday morning we headed to the Tulip festival in Mt.Vernon. I’d never been before and Jeff was supposed to take pictures there for class so I was more than happy to be his supermodel since Brooklyn Decker couldn’t make it.
In case you’re wondering my fabulous dress is from Modcloth, it’s called “Fit for a Princess” and it is even more amazing in person because the tulle on the skirt has sparkles and you can’t help but feel like a daisy fairy princess when wearing it. It’s tough not to wear it every day to be honest with you.
All in all it was an amazing weekend. Although whoever coined the saying “Sunday Funday” was seriously mistaken. I’m spending the rest of the day catching up on all of the homework I put off over the weekend which includes a powerpoint presentation, two sewing projects, a lab and who knows what else. I’m already day dreaming of my trip to California next weekend.
