Somebody has the entire week off from babysitting baby children and guess what?! That somebody is me! That’s right, the Seattle school district is on Spring Break (and my little Fam Bam is on vacay) which means a whole week of house sitting aka being paid to stay in houses that have silkier sheets and nicer showers than mine. So, naturally, I’ve been playing house…minus the cooking and cleaning part. Does anyone else play house when they’re house sitting? This morning getting ready I was just like “La La La good morning Seattle Skyline and Neiman marcus sheets…La La La good morning fancy schmancy shower and towel warmers…La La La hello pretty little backyard and perfect little porch swing”. I don’t understand when house sitters snoop through stuff, it ruins the fantasy. I don’t want to know this is someone else’s house because for a full week I’m playing grown up and pretending this place is all mine. So far so good.
I’m still learning to sew and mainly failing in my professional opinion. Somehow we moved from french seams (not to brag but I totally have that one in the bag) to bodices in all of (what seems like) two days. I don’t know if you know what a bodice is but it’s pretty much a full blown top/shirt/upper half of a dress, I googled it and died a little inside when I realized that was the homework assignment I had put off until Sunday night at, I don’t know…around 9:00. I finished but there was lots of caffeine involved and accidental pinning of my own skin. Ouch.
Basically my conclusion is that I was born in the correct decade because cooking and sewing and cleaning are basically impossible and torturous so I could have never been some sort of domestic goddess of the fifties. I’m all about the feminine mystique but at the same time I secretly do wish I was little J from Gossip Girl and a wedding dress/fashion designer. So I guess I’m just confused.
Also I’ve been obsessed with maxi skirts and wedges lately. Obsessed as in it is literally all I ever want to wear ever again. The perfect spring staple outfit if you ask me. And everything I’m wearing here is from Forever 21 or Old Navy which means it was all a super steal and I’m so happy about it.
This entire post has been a crazy cluster, but that’s the way my brain is working these days. I can hardly remember which day is which but I DO know that I’m headed to the Tulip Festival this weekend sooo the weather better pull through because I’m totally planning on snagging some glamour shots.
P.S. Jeff ,my really cute and wonderful (and sometimes frustrating), boyfriend just assisted for the cover photo-shoot/editorial shoot for the June edition of Seattle Bride. I wasn’t jealous that he was around gorgeous models all day but I was jealous that he was around beautiful designer dresses and engagement rings. I will DEFINITELY share behind the scenes photos as soon as he is legally allowed to do so (aka after the issue comes out).
