Before any rumors start to spread let me just clarify I’m NOT pregnant or a Mom or anything remotely close. I do have a dog though and she’s almost as high maintenance as a child. However for the weekend I have pretty much become a full fledged Mother because for the entire weekend I’m babysitting these little sugarplum princesses:
They’re pretty much adorable but like any princesses they can be TONS of work especially when they’re all together…which they usually are. No worries though because I’m a super nanny or in other words a child tamer. Not to brag but its a title only given to the elite.
As the law of the world would have it, I started to feeling awful after approximately forty-five minutes of babysitting. Jeff has been super sick all week but I thought my immune system was strong enough to make it through without my own share of coughs and headaches and boogers…wrong. After being healthy and well all week long the germs have finally caught up with me and BAM I’m suddenly achey all over and chasing after three crazy monkeys.
Still I’m determined to have an amazing weekend with my little sugar plum fairies. We started off the morning with a trip to the library and Cupcake Royale. Stella couldn’t have been less thrilled about the whole excursion but Zoe and Hazel were all over it. Stella quickly changed her attitude when it came to picking out her cupcake, she was suddenly the most well behaved and perfect little sugarplum princess I’ve ever met. We spent about twenty minutes picking out our cupcakes (I swear the girl at the register wanted to kill me) but in the end everyone ended up happy because I was giving them artificially colored sugar and what could be better than that?
The weekend has only just begun and there have been magic tricks, a mini-food fight, an actual soccer fight, dress up, coloring, games of “Diggity Dog” and talk of Shrinky-Dinks. Zoe is currently at her Saturday math class (these children are obviously going to run the world when they are dedicated enough to study math on a Saturday afternoon, the only thing I can commit myself to on a Saturday afternoon is a peppermint mocha), Hazel is taking a nap and Stella is playing dress up with her friend Josie (I can’t wait to see the outfits they’ve put together, Stella is a SERIOUS FASHIONISTA) and we’re planning on having a tea party later (Stella would want me to mention that we’re using REAL china). Tomorrow I’m praying for sunshine so we can head to the zoo and see the lion cubs.
Children have taught me many valuable lessons, patience, love, understanding, enchantment with the world…but most of all they’ve helped me to appreciate all of the hard work my parents must have put into raising me. There is NO WAY I will become a mom anytime soon, Boo is more than enough work for this girl!
Wish me luck for the rest of the weekend, I think with a few trips to Starbucks and a couple cough drops I should make it through. Any fun ideas for the day tomorrow if it rains and we can’t make it to the zoo? I’m voting for a blanket fort!
