Lately the sun has had me daydreaming, dreaming about the freedom of summer (even though I’m planning on taking Summer classes I’m hoping they’re all online so studying with a frappuccino by Greenlake…don’t mind if I do!), daydreaming about dancing my heart out and dip dying the ends of my hair pink for Paradiso (a two day EDM festival), daydreaming about visiting my sorority Big Vanessa at her new home in Los Angeles (She’s going to be a movie star and she’s MY Big so you should be jealous obviously) and most of all daydreaming about the sunshine. I want to go on long bike rides on a pink beach cruiser bike with a basket (never mind that I don’t actually own that sort of bike) and have picnics in grassy meadows and to pick fresh wildflowers and make daisy crowns, to wear a maxi skirt without the ends becoming dreadfully soaked from a surprise rain attack (ugh, this def happened today).
Nannying really is the perfect summer job because it provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sunshine and a flexible schedule that allows for long weekend getaways and time to work on my classes while still getting paid (win-win-win of you ask me). Last Summer was truly amazing, Jeff and I had just started dating so everything was magical and new, he’d go to Greenlake with me to drink Starbucks and chill in the sunshine with me anytime I wanted and I was more than happy to pose for any of his little photoshoots for school (haha who am I kidding, I love pretending to be Kate Moss for the day, I really do that…even ask Jeff, I have total diva model syndrome on photoshoot days).
Here are some of my favorite memories from last summer, for no other reason than the fact that I’m feeling especially nostalgic.
What are some of your favorite summer activities and memories? This summer my goals are to drink less starbucks, go on more hikes, have more bonfires, paddle board at Greenlake (as close as I’m going to get to getting in the water), cover myself in henna tattoos and camp as many weekends as possible.
P.S. Today was just one of those days where things just weren’t working out. First off I forgot my sewing basket with all of my sewing supplies at home this morning but didn’t realize until after I arrived at school…so I had to turn around to go and get it and THEN for my second class I forgot we were supposed to meet on Queen Anne for our field trip and showed up to class on time to find no one was there. Luckily I have Thursdays off from school…my brain is obviously fried and could use a run, bubble bath and some reading time.
P.S. AGAIN- If anyone is interested in an update on my sewing abilities…I think it’s really hard. I’m learning how to make pleats and gathers and ruffles and even though I have to redo each assignment what feels like twenty times I’m DETERMINED to do well and learn how to make myself beautiful summer dresses so I can run around like a real live fairy princess all summer long.
