As you may or may not know I’m currently vacationing in Hawaii with Jeff and his family and I totally look like a lobster even though I’ve been slathering on the sunscreen. I still love it though because in Seattle I am completely deprived of vitamin d and any form of sunshine, I’ll take what I can get even if it means looking like a sea creature. I think vacations are great because they teach us how important it is to “unplug” yourself from the iPhone world. I can’t tell you how much time I spend reading other blogs, Facebook and instagram on a daily basis. But in Hawaii I’m so busy adventuring and swimming and eating and laying on the beach (and eating some more) that those silly little social media sites don’t even cross my mind (and it’s wonderful)!
So far my vacation has been amazing, there has been a lot of lounging on the beach, reading (just finished Silverlinings Playbook and it’s really good I recommend it) and chocolate covered macadamia nuts. I’ve seen whales and turtles and all of these amazing surfers (so far no dolphins though). I’ve been praying to Poseidon that he will send me a pod of baby dolphins so I’m sure I will see some soon. Oh and the time change is magnificent, since Hawaii is three hours behind Washington and I haven’t adjusted at all I’m falling asleep every night when it gets dark around 8:30 and waking up around 6:30am every morning when the sunrises, I feel like I’m one with nature (well, sort of). Still, I believe some of the best is still in store for our trip! Kauai is supposed to be an amazing place to hike and we haven’t gone on any of the hikes we have planned yet…hopefully soon, I need some excercise after all of the chocolate covered macadamia nuts I’ve been eating (sorry I’m not sorry).
I’m wasting precious daylight and much needed sunshine!!! I hope everyone else is enjoying Spring Break as much as I am!
I’m going zip lining tomorrow for the very first time ever in my life! I’m so excited and so scared! Has anyone else been zip lining? What’s it like? I can’t wait!
