Let me just start by thanking the universe for my amazingly relaxing yet productive weekend. I was able to clean my apartment (a bit), pack for Hawaii (3 days, yee!) and even spend some time with my family. It was one of those wonderful blends of fun and relaxing meets not totally lazy, although, I’m not going to lie, I’ve made quite a bit of progress on season 4 of Gossip Girl (Can Chuck and Blair please just be together, It’s killing me that they’re apart! And please, no one spoil the season for me!)
Soo not to say I’m on par with Martha Stewart or anything but I spent Sunday afternoon listening to spotify and crafting, one of those perfect afternoons that are so hard to make time for in the middle of the quarter but are perfectly doable during Spring Break! I am by no means artistic, I can’t even perfect the stick figure and in high school I cringed at the thought of taking an art class BUT that doesn’t stop me from loving “crafting”, it’s the Girl Scout in me showing through.
I really wanted a fun little project that I could finish in just a few hours and of course wouldn’t cost too much money. Since I love decorating my apartment (I aim for romantic princessy look but Jeff says it looks like a sorority bedroom, whateves). So I went to Michael’s to look for some inspiration and I imagine I must have felt the same way Salvador Dali did when his eyes met that of his muse, Gala (P.S. I know I’m Jeff’s muse even if he won’t admit it). The result of my creative spirit was this:
And even though it’s not perfect I sort of love it. It’s a monogrammed chalkboard, it’s not really useful for anything other than little doodles and notes but I think it spices up my desk area a bit.
All this little masterpiece took was a little bit of paint, chalkboard paint, glitter spray, a canvas, and a bow! TA-DA!
May I suggest thin mints for your next crafter noon? I must have eaten an entire box (but who’s keeping track) and I’ve found that they really bring out the inner Girl Scout!
P.S. Let’s all take a moment of silence and mourn that yesterday was the last day to buy Girl Scout cookies this season. No one could be more sad than Boo as she sneakily ate an entire box of Samoas while I was out.
