Ask any established or aspiring fashionista and you will quickly find that inspiration can be found anywhere. Some more common fashion icons include Audrey Hepburn, Jenna Lyons, Kate Middleton…Lady Gaga perhaps? But me? I draw my inspiration from Claire.
You might know her. She’s part hipster, part vintage beauty, part “Oh this old thing, I just found it in some old bin at goodwill” while looking like a superstar. I’m sure we all have a Claire in our lives, my Claire just happens to be the actual Claire.
Claire was my roommate freshman year at Washington State (and now one of my very favorite people in the whole wide world), let me tell you, she always looks this fabulous:
She’s one of those girls that can pull off all the trends you wish you could wear but you look like a total wannabe: red lipstick, high-waisted shorts, acid wash jeans, leather pants, ridiculously platformed shoes, a leotard, really pretty much anything. She could wear a paper bag or a pillowcase and still look runway ready.
She’s also one of those girls that can borrow your clothes and miraculously make them look a zillion times better than you can. It’s like “oh wow, somehow you paired that old torn up sweatshirt with something other than leggings with dog hair on them” and it’s suddenly like “why didn’t I think of that”?!
Finally it’s all so effortless. You can’t even hate Claire for being so perfect because she’s this little flower child hippie with friends named Teal and Swaneagle and Dandelion (for real). She lives on an island and she’s basically one with harmony and the earth. Plus she’s good at painting other people’s nails so if you’re challenged like I am you don’t want to get on her bad side.
Claire is my muse. The end.
P.S. I had to do a lot of facebook stalking to make this post possible but I figured it wasn’t that creepy because I used to sleep in the same room as this girl every night so inherently that gives me the right to be a total stalker.
